So if this was done months ago Danny really had his head in the sand and should have traded Kyrie at the deadline.
Sure...if Kyrie wasn't lying to his face the entire time about his plans. Which he was.
So he's supposed to tell DA that he's planning on leaving? Do you do that at your job? I don't say sh*t to my old job until I have the new offer signed and sealed.

Yep. What I meant. Right around the same time. I think we won 10 of 11 games some time before the deadline. Danny was probably hoping the team was trending in the right direction.
I'm just bringing it up because the AS game is probably where they decided to team up. There may even be video of it happening, lol.

Why does he care? He know he's leaving. He knows Danny is counting on him staying for the AD pitch. He can half-ass the rest of the season for another team as well as he did for the Celtics.
And to put it terms of your question: If I knew my employer was counting on me for a big project this summer but I knew I was leaving, you can be DAMN SURE I would let them know one way or another.
ETA: In fact, I did that when I left my last job.

"Months ago" could mean post-ASB/post-deadline.
Isn't the AS game after the deadline?

Yeah, it's hard to blame Kyrie for not telling Danny mid-season, but he just should never have said the "I intend on coming back" stuff when he clearly hadn't settled on doing so. He's not very smart, so he probably just didn't think that through. No skin off his nose though, so maybe he did.

Celtics usually leave 1 spot open so that means one more veteran min. signing is all we can expect. Should be PG or SG, considering the fact that two rookies are unlikely to be ready to contribute from day one. If they do, it's a plus.
When it comes to bigs, maybe Timelord beats Theis for minutes (would be a good thing), maybe Yabu beats GWill (Doubt it), but this is the team. You can argue Brown or Hayward should come of the bench, but I think Smart will start the year as the 6th man.
Walker / vet. min / Edwards
Brown / Smart / Langford
Hayward / Ojeleye /
Tatum / G. Williams / Yabusele
Kanter / Theis / R. Williams
Some of the vet. min candidates: PGs (Larkin, Mack, Neto), SGs (Nwaba, Selden)

Could the Warriors S&T Looney to us for Yabusele & the Milwaukee pick?
Yabusele is nothing to them but he will expire soon & they will need some cheap talent to fill their roster for years to come, so a late 1st could help.

KD and Kyrie to Brooklyn was a done deal months ago.
Horford's deal w/ Sixers done two weeks ago. He was never coming back.
Money among other factors was a reason he left. He also wanted to play his more preferred PF position.

Meh. These reporters always come out as some smart asses after the fact. Where was he earlier?

A fan of the Celtics board called into Abby Chin's podcast with some rather interesting rumors. I'm not sure if anyone has transcribed it.

Move Yabusele and get a more useful big. Heck given the Celtics situation Tack Fall should take Yabusele's spot at the very least.

Ok, but who would that be? You could add Theis, depending on the money or the team, the BYC issues wouldn’t be insurmountable.. Not a lot of players in Yabu’s salary range..
