Our starting five without Hayward is still undefeated in this year’s playoffs.

I just wanna see Arson go full 2019 tourney mode at least once. That would be cool.

Yep, 'roid him up. He'll have stories to tell that new son of his about the time he defied a pandemic, multiple injuries, got juiced, won an NBA championship and still made it home on time to make an assist on the delivery. That's good bonding material right there.

Hayward should just go home now, and be with his family.

Nah. We're in this thing. Keep him around the team and getting around the clock treatment. Just get him a really good PC rig to his room.

I did the same exact thing Hayward did where I landed on someone's foot playing basketball and I missed three months. My ankle still hurts now sometimes and that was 15 years ago. I don't think people realize how serious sprains can be.

I've done that same thing a bunch of times as well and was able to play again in a few days. I guess everyone is different but someone at a serious professional level, should be ready quicker than 4 weeks. IMO

I was worried that with Hayward out, our top 4 guys would have to play 40+ minutes each to cover for his absence. One way to avoid this is to keep blowing out our opponents. Gino time every game. In game 2, no one played more than 31 minutes. Kemba played only 26.

Kidding aside, Langford/Grant/Semi/Wanamaker all did an admirable job of filling in and fulfilling their roles while on the floor. It helped that the Sixers were clueless with what type of defense they're running, but our guys were solid and performed as if they've been to a high-stakes game before.

I'm thinking maybe the bubble helps us here with super-young bench (outside Smart/Kanter) and no road crowd. We'll see how they respond to the virtual sixer fan or 2 that bothers to show.

Arson as in criminally starting a fire?

Arson as in Carsen lighting up the nets from several feet behind the 3pt line.

But, he has not really earned a nick yet. If and when he does, perhaps we can come up with something that doesn’t suggest he may be a psychopath.

The fact that he's thinking of a way to schedule the birth of his son is huge for us, providing we can get past Toronto.

Unfortunately, I don't think Robyn will ever agree to it.

He is? When did he say/indicate this?

Also, OP, please add Javonte to the thread title. Maybe replace Brown and Langford since there are new reports/updates on their injuries.

Not sure you are seeing how significant a grade III sprain is. The ligaments are completely torn. I’ve sprained my ankle a dozen times. Most just rolled ankles, but my most recent one had me out for 4-5 months because it was a grade III sprain. My ankle was completely purple from the bottom of my foot to about 10 inches up the side of my leg. The bruise didn’t go away for like a week, but it was awful. Grade III sprains aren’t a joke, and they aren’t too common either.

Just last year Lonzo Ball went out with a grade III sprain with a timeline of 4-6 weeks in January. He never came back to play that season.

It's in the latest Woj story.

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/29705413/gordon-hayward-overlap-recovery-ankle-sprain-leaving-nba-bubble-child-birth

What Hayward and the Celtics do know is that he won't be back any time soon. Because of that, Hayward said he is looking at the possibility of scheduling the impending birth of his fourth child during the time he is out.

The Celtics had been prepared for Hayward to leave the team for a few days at some point in September to be with his wife, Robyn, for the birth.

"I think it's two separate things," Hayward said, referring to his injury and the impending family addition, "but it's something I'm taking a look at. It's just very unfortunate of the timing of the whole deal, so I think I'm just trying to take it day by day, and we're looking at scheduling for the baby and all that stuff, so it's taking it day by day."

It could just be me but I read the quote as aligning his rehab and his moving out of the bubble to the (natural) birth of his child and not the other way around.

Have you watched Robyn's IG video? While it's clear she was particularly upset at the fans/people she doesn't know suggesting the birth be induced, I don't think she'd be open to the idea even if Gordon himself broached the subject, "just for basketball."
