Having Bill Walton on the Celtics was a very nice thing for one year.

It was a very nice thing for the Blazers in 77 too

I like timelord. But Walton and timelord in same sentence is disrespectful to the healthy Walton of yesteryear.

Absolutely. Rob can’t hold Bill’s jockstrap. What a slap in the face comparison.

One thing I really like about the Celtics is that they seem to manage player injuries really well and are quite conservative in ensuring players return fit and healthy.

Williams will be given every opportunity to get fit. He's only 25.

It's all water under the bridge now, but perhaps had they been more conservative last year and kept Rob out of the finals, maybe he would've healed up better and become healthier/stronger for this season.

Hard to say. He played all bar one game across the ECF vs Miami and all games vs Golden State. I think they managed him OK.

Anyway, no rush for him to return before the finals this season.

Part-Timelord has become a terrible value contract. Wish we could move it before it becomes a Kemba situation.

lol oh please. Rob barely makes any money - especially with how much the cap is rising.

Only like $12 mil a year for a guy coming off an all-NBA defense season.

Not even remotely close to a Kemba situation. Kemba was making like $42 mil a year & couldn't play defense. $12 mil a year for Rob and he's an all-NBA defender.

We should definitely prioritize finding a Rob replacement this offseason. His impact is undeniable when he plays, he's just never gonna be consistently healthy enough to rely on as much as we do right now. Having him as an energy big off the bench in limited minutes may be the best we can hope for moving forward.

We most certainly cannot talk about him on the same timeline as the jays anymore that’s for sure- let’s just put that to bed

For how little he plays, he's well over paid. Sorry he's not who we thought he was.

This season alone 28 of 71 games played and counting.

Well if it's iffy then they may as well put him on ice till the playoffs.

Makes zero sense to get him back ASAP at this point.

You forget how many Dads are on this team. JT, Al, Rob, Derrick, Blake, Smart isn't a Dad but he's getting married and settling down so that's probably not far behind. Gallo is married and his wife is expecting. The family-fatherhood bond is something that I think connects some of these guys. It's clear that they talk about these things off the court.

Some great life lessons there actually.
