i'd take a couple for the end of our bench. dipo easily released, don't know who else.

Oladipo makes like $9 mil this year. I guess they could buy him out. But I doubt they waive him, because that'd be a lot of dead money on their books..

I wish we can throw a couple of seconds for puku.. Unless his cap hit is too high.
2 things need to go.. my lack of spell check and Joe..

If he can't shoot 3s they won't sign him

All 3 of those guys can shoot 3's.

Also, Brad has acquired quite a few players with questionable shooting over the past couple years..

-Bruno Fernando
-Enes Freedom
-Jordan Walsh
-Dalano Banton
-Kris Dunn
-Juancho Hernangomez
-Josh Richardson
-Moses Brown
-Oshae Brissett
-JD Davison
-Blake Griffin
-Noah Vonleh
-Daniel Theis
-Derrick White
-Justin Champagnie

Brad also gave Time Lord an extension and resigned Kornet - both questionable shooters..

I feel that if Brad liked any of the FA's that have been available this whole off season, Brad would have signed one of them by now. My guess is he has a spot saved for Blake if he wants it, but there is a timeline cut off that Brad will move on from, like stat of training camp. I think Brad is waiting for camp to start and to see who may get cut from other teams like an OKC, to see if anyone fits. I still think Brad signs another big, either for the 2-way or to a regular roster spot, even if it is a project big. I also think he will sign a veteran wing to help give Tatum and Brown some rest. I could also see Scrubb filling in when Tatum or Brown are told to take a game off here or there.

DJ Steward has reportedly been signed to an amp deal, but that is it so far. By the looks of things, he is a 6'1-6'2 SG in a PG body. Not much of a passer, so I don't think JD Davison has much to worry about. I think Scrubb can do everything Steward can do but is a bigger body at 6'5.

This game was a few days ago, let's see how Garuba looked.

No outside shooting this game from Garuba, but he did a lot of things well...

2:49 nice job of running the floor and finishing in transition. He knows it's a tough matchup vs Zach Edey. Edey is much bigger than Garuba, but Garuba knows the advantage he has over Edey is out-running him in the open floor - and that's what he does here.

3:23 solid D here, nice hustle to track down the rebound and immediately throw the outlet pass ahead to ignite the fast break. He then continues to hustle down the floor, and again finishes on the break

3:38 nice kick out pass here to the open shooter for the 3. Spain is now up by 1. When Garuba entered the game, they were down by 9, it was 19-10 Canada with Garuba on the bench. Garuba comes in and Spain outscores Canada 19-9.

3:48 nice anticipation, able to read where the ball was gonna go off the missed shot, gets the rebound, 1 dribble, turns and makes the shot over Olynyk, with soft touch

7:38 here's a winning play by Garuba. Nice job of bringing the defensive pressure and aggressively trapping the Canada ball handler, traps about aggressively as you can, without being called for a foul. Results in the Canada ball handler coughing up the ball, leading to a steal for Spain and an easy transition dunk for Garuba.

10:48 battles for position under the basket, gets the ball and makes the shot in traffic to keep Spain in the game in OT

He just needs to get more comfortable/confident in his 3 ball. In this video, we see him clogging up the lane on offense quite a bit, which hurt Spain's spacing. If he can get more comfortable/confident in that 3 ball, he can be out on the perimeter more and space the floor better. And he can shoot (37% from 3 for his career, 41% last season) but it's been on very low volume.

On the bright side, the volume did increase last season. First 45 games, he only attempted 0.5 threes per game. But then over his last 30 games, that jumped up to 1.2 attempts per game. Which isn't *that* low, considering he was playing such a low amount of mins per game. And even when his volume increased later in the season, his 3 pt % remained basically the same (right around 40-41%).

Not sure of the relevance. Indeed, I don't recognize the clip, but I like it anyway.

For years, my wife's screen-saver was a picture I took of her with James Marsters.

That's Spike, the antagonist cum antihero in the Buffy television universe.

Indeed. My household was rather into Buffy fandom. One of my other Spike stories is the shirtless photo I had Marsters sign right after the aforementioned snapshot, because the women in the party were too embarassed to ask themselves.

Yet another is that we believe a trivial Buffy character who had the hots for Spike, and was named in an obvious fan shoutout (named in the credits but not onscreen), was in fact named after my wife.
Banned temporarily for, among other sins, being "Extremely Deviant".

Hmm, guess that means perhaps Danny Green won't be signing with Miami - perhaps he'll sign with us..

The Mavericks are expected to waive-and-stretch veteran center JaVale McGee by the league's Aug. 31 deadline, league sources tell @TheSteinLine, barring an unforeseen trade that requires the inclusion of McGee's contract. More NBA from me: marcstein.substack.com

The Dallas Mavericks are planning to stretch-and-waive center JaVale McGee and re-sign F/C Markieff Morris on a deal, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Mavs must execute stretch-and-waive by next week.

I personally still wouldn't be surprised if Brogdon is moved before the start of the season. Brad Stevens leaving two spots open for this long just adds fuel to my suspicion on a trade where the Celtics send out a player and get multiple players back. Might be waiting for a player or two to clear trade restrictions. We will see.

Danny was interested in McGee many years ago, but the agent got in the way. Danny wanted 2 year, TO and the agent wanted 2 year, PO so Danny told him to shove it

So the heat still holding out hope they can get Dame for a song and then fill out their roster for (effectively) free. Ergh

I always thought he was way better than the complete idiot reputation he got from Shaqtin a Fool. And still capable of giving you some solid minutes off the bench. But I think I'd prefer just bringing Blake back.

Waived and stretched. Doesn't that mean they're bringing him back - just on a different type of contract?

No it means they reduce the cap hit by stretching it out multiple years.

Reduced on an annual basis, they still owe the full amount.
