i feel bad for Jenkins but it just shows how keeping young stars' egos fed while at the same time encouraging development is such a crucial skill for nba coaches. you can't be too easy or they won't grow into their potential, but you can be too much of a hardass or they will tune out.

i give Ime a lot of credit for getting JT+JB on the right path. i felt like by the end of Brad's coaching tenure they were plateauing. brad wasn't able to push them and they were tuning out, and of course the inability to rein in marcus didn't help. ime came in and sat the Jays down and told them look, this is who you need to be as players. and he was just enough of a hardass that he got them to commit to it. ime had a lot of other issues but that alone was worth having him coach for a year.

Morant was WAAAAYYY overhyped a few years ago, and when his true behavior revealed itself it showed what Jenkins was dealing with. IMO, he's gonna get a good job, maybe not a HC position right away but a lead asst is a guarantee. I said the Spurs should bring him back with the uncertainty of Pop's health. After next season, HC positions in Mil, Atl, Chi, Sac, NO, Indy may open up.

The Grizzlies trade away all the adults in the room (Adams, Smart, etc.) then blame the coach because there are no adults in the room to keep the locker room in check. Classic.

Brunson says he's cleared for basketball activities but also said he's not sure if he'll be able to play again during the RS.

So the update seems to have Knicks fans freaking out that he's more injured than the realized and might miss some or all of the playoffs too.

Pretty sure that is the rookie Ron Holland. I don't know what DDV was so fired up about.

Oh, right. It was Wolves/Pistons, not Wolves/Knicks. Never mind. Thanks!

Kevin Durant sprained his ankle in a 39-point loss to the Rockets after losing by 30 to the Celtics. Suns set record for worst combined B2B losses in NBA history. KD is not joining the team in their road trip so possibly no KD when Suns meet Cs in Boston on Friday.

Three teams scored 145+ on same night. Last time that happened was 55 years ago.

It finally happened! Zach Lowe joined his old boss on Grantland and is now on The Ringer. Glad to see him get back on the NBA beat. Hopefully, he's less hot-takey like he's gotten towards the end of his ESPN career.

The Zach Lowe Show premieres next Monday. Just in time for the playoffs too!

For the 4th consecutive season, the NBA reached 30,000 3-pt makes between all the teams. And I believe Tatum, White, and Pritchard account for 10,000 of those.

Reid instigated that 100%. He should have either went at Holland for that foul which wasn't bad IMO or took it and made his free throws, but I hated the finger waving in the face because it forces that other player to respond which is what Holland did. Waving your finger in another man's face is a big no no. I'm not a fan one bit of Reid and IMO, he's softy 6'9 snowflake. Either do something or walk away.

Detroit bringing back the bad boy persona is great for the league and the city.

Now they need to find that HC who can reel those youngsters in.

I'd say that Durant had played his last game for the Suns, and they are tanking him for it ... but his game count for the season is 62, and I think pundits project him to make an All-NBA Team.

I think there is a provision that you only need to hit 62 games if you have a season ending injury. Although I'm not sure an ankle sprain would be categorized as such. Now if you are the Suns and you want to be really petty you could bring him back just for the last two games to make sure he misses the cutoff and he can't use the season ending injury loophole.

Apart from his 3-pt shot abandoning him (he was never great to begin with), JB still needlessly takes too many tough, contested twos on a team loaded with talent and who are willing/able to share the ball. He should be getting more open shots tbh or shots with him on the move/catch. Same issue with JT still needlessly taking too many iso pullup threes that drag his %s down. I guess it's a product of the mismatch-hunting-based offense.

Names around him are from bad/tanking teams and Banchero, who carries an offensively-challenged team.

Huge tankoff tonight between Utah and Charlotte. Utah has taken #31 from us but if thee Jazz WIN tonight against the hapless Hornets, the Celts will take back possession of #31 draft selection.

This promises to be one of the best tankoffs of the season as both Utah and Charlotte are adamant that they dont want to WIN the game, lol...

Pels shutting everybody down. League needs to take care of the obvious tanking year after year by the same culprits.
