This is not meant to be literal placement - I don't mean to suggest Smart will spend equal time at all of PG/SG/SF, or that KO or AH will play C exclusively - just a quick and dirty minute assignment to show how many minutes you still need to account for, some way or another, after the obvious top six of IT/AB/Jae/Smart/Amir/Horford.

This is actually great. It makes clear what the Celtics' biggest positional need is, something that would be answered incorrectly by most non-Boston fans.

If anything I think the guard totals needing to be filled will in reality need to be higher. IT played 82 games last year, so if anything his minutes will likely go down. Bradley, on the other hand, admitted to high fatigue levels at the end of the season and then ended the playoffs injured. So I think ideal world both of those guys have their minutes go down, and if not ideal world, most likely end up down anyways regardless due to injury.

I think JB can fill some minutes at the 3 and 4...and the we draft HG to fill some of those 4/5 minutes

Jalen Jones has been getting some mentions in training camp. Long shot to make the roster, though.

Dunking on Mickey:

Looks like he's outhustling Hunter here:

I don't see him "out hustling" Hunter.. I do see James Young getting after it on D in that second clip.

Young's major college skill, shooting, hasn't translated to the pro game yet, but if it's still in there, and it does, he's at least at Gerald Green role player level.

Don't know if Hunter would have any takers around the league. Maybe for a guy like Mclemore who's going into free agency?

No one is trading for any of our guys if they might get cut. I'm sure Charlotte is keeping a close eye on what happens with Hunter. They were interested in drafting him.

Looks to me Hunter can't beat a dude who can't play defense off the dribble lol.

Young looks bigger though. Yes bigger hair, but looks stronger, & I do like him getting after it on defense. Imagine he puts it together? Be a great story. High on him, low, very low, cut his ass, ... to success? That'd be cool.

Fellas, we got a ***** game in 5 nights. About time.

Simmons (rolled right ankle) unlikely to play vs. Boston in preseason game Tuesday. Embiid and Okafor are both expected to play.

He's moving a heck of a lot quicker than Hunter is on the court. Sorry you can't see that.

Quickness and "hustle" (effort) aren't the same thing- Scalabrine hustled. And yeah, Jones is quicker, he's also moving without the ball, not dribbling it.

Is it just me or has Jerebko not looked so good in these preseason games?

Agreed, he's in danger of losing his spot on the second unit.

KO
Brown
Green
Smart
Rozier

May be the Celtics best bet off the bench

Real excited that we're beginning the season confident about the starting group. Lee and Zeller were our starting frontcourt on opening night last season, ffs. Hope Brad figures out the rest of the rotation that works a week or two into the season instead of mid-January.:P Whatever happens, I expect a complaints about how the young guys aren't getting enough minutes and what is Zeller doing out there on the court?!

It wouldn't surprise me if Jerebko gets phased out of the regular rotation with Brown getting some minutes at the 4 and Green replacing Swedish Bird as the more athletic shooter/scorer off the bench. His hustle and rebounding might be missed though.

Smart-Green-Brown-Crowder-KO would be a potent second unit that could shoot some, switch on defense, and run. Smart has a knack of finding wings/bigs who leak in transition and throw on-point outlet passes off defensive boards. They can also run PnR between Smart and KO in the half-court surrounded by three guys who can drive closeouts and finish at the rim.

Two weeks more of this nonsense and real NBA basketball is here!
