Another season at minimum away from anything happening with Luka. Likely 2 and that’s if he just asks out. Long way to go imo.

And that's if we aren't already planning a package for Luka based around Jaylen.
I'd probably rather keep Jaylen if he really wants to be here, but if he doesn't wanna be here, there wouldn't be many better trade options for the Mavs.
I think the best outcome for Celtics is for JB not to get all-NBA but to still extend him at 150% of current salary if rumored CBA provision happens. That way they can extend him to near supermax money and not be stuck keeping him at 35% of cap. Also, they wouldn’t have to wait a year to trade him if say Luka becomes available. The worst outcome is that he doesn’t get all-NBA and CBA doesn’t change and he becomes free agent. The Cs might feel pressured to trade him and they likely get a lousy return like the Sox got with Betts.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

Cs need 5-2 in their last 7 games to secure best franchise record since 2008-09, best in Brad era, and 3rd best since Bird era.

Last summer/preseason I had hopes for Kabe.. But after watching him closely against the NBA regulars, he just appeared to be so much smaller and undersized. And though RW is listed about the same height I don't get that same feel. RW looks and plays Big..
Kaben seems to be a genuine nice guy and I hope he sticks in the NBA. Just don't believe the is our long term answer anymore. At least not for a team trying to replace Al or RW with.
2 things need to go.. my lack of spell check and Joe..

I still think he can play - in pretty much the same role he had in summer league. Assuming he can defend enough. But we're probably not in a position to offer him developmental minutes in real games so I'm guessing he'll move on.

Re: Celtics 2022-23 Season Thread, Part 2
Scratch my previous idea of the need of another energizer. This team needs its 4 leaders to step up in sparking the flame under the team.
The Jays are laid back, but they're the best players. They have to lead by example and push their teammates, even if they have to take turns.
And where is Smart this year? He's supposed to be Mr. Hustle, Mr. Winning Plays, the orchestrator. Guys need to get in line and Smart hasn't steered them enough.
The expectations placed upon Joe are massive for a rookie coach, but he's also responsible for getting these guys going.
Feel like this has been an issue with this Jays era. They don't consistently psych themselves to be hungry and instead act as if they've been there. This past game was only a sample of this ongoing habit

The Celtics are only 14-10 against the East top 8 teams but 7 of the losses (0-7) are in OT lol. Weird ass team.

Celtics are 0.7 points per 100 possessions away from having the #1 defense. Not gonna happen since Cavs last 3 games are ORL (2x) and CHA but it’s still impressive considering they missed their all-defense center for 45 games, the reigning DPOY for 18, and three of their other starters for 35 more.

Just imagine if the Celtics were consistent, Tatum wasn't soft, Smart fixed his shot selection, Mazzulla could coach, Brown was a better playmaker, Horford wasn't sitting out back to back, Timelord was actually playing occasionally...
