Fisher was the Knicks head coach, not an assistant.

The Derek Fisher/Matt Barnes mess would be an odd echo of Ime, but probably OK.

I didn't like some of the manipulation in Fisher's team-hopping late in his career, but I seem to be unusual in that.

Move on, save yourself some pain and anger. I'd rather see positive zoya!

There is no better candidate to be an assistant to Joe than Doc Rivers. Not even talking about an Xs and Os standpoint here. Doc knows what it’s like being a young, black coach, and he knows what it’s like being a coach in Boston and the media scrutiny that comes with it. He also has experience as an NBA player. Doc got his first head coaching gig at 38, so a few years older than Joe is right now. Both were gritty PGs. They have a lot of things in common.

There’s a reason why Doc pulled his name from the Suns coaching gig. I think he’s coming back to Boston. Given his age, I think he’s at the point in his career where he still loves coaching, but is probably fine taking a backseat and not being the main guy anymore.

Doc was always great from a player relationship standpoint, was willing to challenge players while maintaining good relationships. Players like playing for him yet he doesn't blindly enable them.

He has weaknesses as a head coach, but they don't come into play so much as an assistant.

I'm not sure he won't simply opt for retirement, or time off, but it would be great to have him back as an assistant.

Doc might have too much of an ego himself to accept an assistant job, let alone to be under a 35-yo.

Doc almost got Larry Brown to come on as an assistant coach for the Celtics. And he’s also had former head coaches come under him (E.g Dave Joerger). I don’t think his ego is too big for him to take a lesser role. The man has taken a beating from the media over the years. I honestly believe if he doesn’t take a media job, he’d be willing to come back here. Doc is good buddies with Brad and ownership too.

This team has enough chokers. Doc can stay as far any from this organization as possible. This is a coach who has lost the most NBA playoffs series in NBA history, after having the series lead.

The only way Doc Rivers comes back to Boston is as a head coach. Can't see Doc coming back as an assistant coach especially in Boston a place he won a NBA Championship.

Stotts was on NBATV doing commentary a couple months ago and he was negative on the Celtics and also seemed like a super boring guy who didn't make great points in his analysis.

Reddick I find extremely arrogant and smarmy and I just don't like him.

This concludes my grumpy post poo-pooing on two candidates who would probably be fine but I'm just not personal fans of them haha.

KG and PP nominating Sam Cassell for the assistant job. I like this idea more than the Doc proposal. Is he still with the Sixers now that Doc is gone?

Too imposing of a personality imo. I want Joe challenged, but not undermined.

Stevens can just always sit beside him during games. Scal and Eddie House can join them.
