Some like him more than others..but really only 1 poster I see hating on him..

Yeah, I probably shouldn't have used that overused word. Eager to see him traded would have been more accurate.

I'm pretty sure Scrubb doesn't shoot corner threes at 48% for his career.

Hield is a big no. Hauser would put up similar shooting numbers and be a better overall player with the same minutes at a fraction of the cost.

Not sure if Herro would like the "culture" in Utah, but Herro in Utah would be a great Fit for player and team. And Yes Danny would love to screw us over..

Co-sign. We don’t need Hield. Hauser averaged 16 mpg last season. They can increase his minutes and insert him in the playoff rotation. Incorporate him in the offense more.

White can also handle a bigger role and increased PT. Brogdon brings more to the offense than Hield. Up to Joe to use all these weapons properly.

One of Brissett/Walsh/Svi/Lamar should be good for 8-10 minutes in the early rounds of the postseason.

That statement alone should put a stop to all the Brogdon for Hield scenarios.

I can see the argument from the other side. Since we really don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes. It makes sense if Brogdon’s injury is worse than we’re being made to believe. (Hield is an iron man.) How fractured is the relationship between him and the FO? How will that affect the locker room?

In Brad I trust. He’s the only one who really knows what’s going on and how to handle the situation best. But from a bball standpoint, let’s contend with Brogdon in the fold.

Yeah, I'm referring to the bball aspect because like what you said, we really don't know what's going on behind the scenes.

Brogdan is the better player, but you can count on Buddy to actually play.

Brogdon played 67 games last season.

He could've played more if not for "rest".

I'm honestly a little surprised if it's true Brogdon is really that upset about being traded. It's not like he signed with Boston and was sold some sort of dream/role, we acquired him via trade. There wasn't some sort of agreement that Brad was breaking by trading him after only one year or anything like that. Fair enough he had to take a step back and be the 6th man, and he did it with grace, but it also gave him one of the best years of his career so I don't think anyone got the short end of the stick there.

Also he was getting traded to LA, where basically every player seems to want to go (if not Miami). He was probably going to be a starter and he would have been set up for another pretty big contract at the end of his time there. It's not like he was being sent to Siberia to ride the bench.

Regardless, Brad just needs to smooth things over so that we can get him back on the court and re-establish his value. He's a ticking time-bomb in terms of injuries, but there will eventually be a market for his services. If he's back and playing the way he did last year I'd expect the return to be a good bit better than what LAC was getting for him, which I think was watered down because of the injury and because it was a necessary evil to land KP.

We can't afford to trade him now that we're so thin at PG behind White. Pritchard/Banton might be able to shoulder backup minutes, but it's a not a certainty and I don't want to find out that they can't only after we've gotten rid of the guy who could legitimately start at the point for most NBA teams.

Buddy Hield is a solid player but he won't provide the emergency depth at PG that Brogdon could. He's a pure SG and not the kind of ball-handler we'd need. Maybe a deal with him and McConnell, but I don't know if TJ is actually that much better of an option than PP or Banton at this stage in his career.

I was surprised to learn Buddy Hield has scored the most career points of anyone in the 2016 draft.

1 Hield
2 Jaylen
3 Siakam
4 Ingram
5 Sabonis
6 Murray

I get people preferring Brogdon over him, but I have to laugh at people saying Hauser can be as much of a threat.

Stop it lol, Hield is legitimately one of the best high volume three point shooters EVER. Also, Hauser is more of a find the soft spot in a defense as a catch and shoot guy, than he is a true movement shooter.

The only thing that weirds me out about Buddy is questions about his attitude. Coming out of college he seemed like this super positive ray of light lol, but in the NBA he's been disgruntled with several teams. I remember when he was with the Kings he made unflattering comments about his coach and teammates and the whole franchise. Then the Kings offered him an extension and he said it was insulting, but he signed it anyway. And then went back to publicly complaining. Etc.

But honestly I haven't heard much of that in the last couple years so maybe he's grown up and I need to reassess my opinion.

So far, in an admittedly small sample size, Hauser has the better career 3 pt shooting%. It doesn't look like a fluke. Hield has never played on a good team, has never played in the playoffs. Theoretically, Hield would have a lesser role on a good team while Hauser would have a bigger role on a bad team. Up until recently, as his contract has come close to the end, Hield's contract has widely been regarded as a bad one. Saying Hauser can't be as much of a threat is just a guess, as is saying that he could be, but I'm very certain I'd rather pay Hauser 4 mil over the next 2 years rather than pay Hield whatever he's going to get.

Only three players in the history of the NBA have taken 9 threes per 36 minutes while shooting better than 40% from 3 in their career --- Curry, Hield, and Hauser. Only one is getting paid less than 2 million this upcoming season.

Sam is less of a movement shooter than Curry or Hield (he's more like Niang in that regard) but it's not like the Celtics employ a ton of movement anyway. But Sam does need to watch a ton of Duncan Robinson tapes to see how he can be more of a threat on offense. DRob can put the ball on the floor a bit and pass off closeouts/PnRs/handoffs.

Intrigued with the possibility of a Tatum-Hield-Hauser-White(or Horford)-Porzingis lineup though. But it's not like JuJitsu Joe is gonna try that anyway.

Right, Hauser was a very high volume three point shooter for the minutes he played last year.

Doesn’t totally jive with my yelling that he should jack a shot every time he touched the ball, but he took a lot of threes despite my behavior.

I think he took some that he could've passed up (or drove instead) and he turned down some that he should've taken. Can only get better in judging which to take/not with more reps.

Yeah it’s not a Buddy or Hauser thing, we could have both. My reasons for preferring Hield over Brogdon are the following.

You’re right in that we don’t employ a ton of motion, but if we got Hield, you’d have to think we’d run him off screens a bunch. I think that’s a wrinkle that would open up a lot for us, offensively. It’s one more thing for the defenses to have to worry about.

Hield isn’t going to overdribble and bog down the offense. Having both Brogdon and Jaylen on the court at the same time? Well we’ve seen it lol. Buddy knows what his game is, and is just awesome at it. He’s been on crap teams, so I don’t care about his on/off. Good teams put players in better position to succeed.

Health. We got a relatively healthy season out if MB, what are the chances of that happening again?

Hield would EAT playing off of Tatum with the bench lineups.
