I wasn't a fan back then, can someone tell me what the 08 team went through and overcame that let yall believe they could win it all? did they have a come to jesus moment? do the Cs need one this season? I would be fine without adversity if we walked into a chip. I didn't think the first two were easy but they weren't that bad either for anxiety.
Nothing.

We knew from day 1. Honestly. Adversity was not winning on the road until the ECFA, but all other wins prior to that were blowouts, except game 7 of the semis vs the Cavs and LeBron. Peirce took that game over.

You just kind of new from game 1. There was a swagger, confidence and certainty the team just had that no iteration since that has carried.

This year? It's starting to feel like it. It doesn't feel like 08, but it's getting close.

No adversity for that 08 team.

It was only in the 1st round where they had a scare against the Hawks.

Cs needed 7 games to eliminate the #8 Hawks.

thanks for the info. their fans have probably said "what if" for years after that.

Cavs also took them to 7 games in the 2nd round. Game 7 was the legendary Lebron-Pierce duel where both scored 40+. PJ Brown with two key buckets late in the game.

Nah that team you knew had a chance from opening night, like others had said. They embarrassed the Wizards on opening night, who were considered a bit of a fringe contender. They were ungodly on defense from the jump and with three legitimate 20 point guys, House and Posey they were damn near impossible to stop.

The only real question mark(s) I can remember was a close game against the Bobcats where Ray hit a game winner from a stolen inbound and a loss to the Pistons early on. Otherwise they’d still have my money to slap the hell out of any team playing right now.

Thanks for all the responses. I'll take a lil adversity in the playoffs if we win the chip. I just want wins no matter who we have to kill to get there! Come on Cs, be different this season, cash in!!!

Kinda pissed they took away White's block here because Turner was previously called for an offensive foul.

Tried to follow the first half rotation. It appeared to be...

Tatum, White out --> Horford, Pritchard in around the 6 min mark

Porzingis, Holiday out --> Tatum, Hauser in to close out Q1

Q2 starters were Pritchard, White, Hauser, Tatum, Horford. So Brown rest.

Tatum out --> Brown in

Horford, Pritchard out --> Porzingis, Holiday in

White, Hauser out --> Tatum, Brissett in to close out the half

But that was not a surprise considering it was Lebron.

The Celtics won 66 games and were the #1 seed, the #8 Hawks shouldn't have taken the #1 seed Celtics to 7 games.

Adversity is any challenge that came their way. As far as I understand it. It was also Lebron and a bunch of nobodies. Their 2nd best player was Zydrunas Ilgauskus.

Ilgauskas is not a nobody.

He was a 2-time All-Star.

And let's not forget that Lebron and the Cavs were the defending eastern conference champs as they were in the finals in 2007.

Cs were 20+ games better than them. There's levels to this. That series shouldn't even be that close.

Maybe if it was 2010, but 2008 was the first time KG, Pierce, and Ray played together.

It's not like they've playing with each other for years.

We all know the playoffs is a different animal, especially if it involves one of the greatest of all-time.

That series should not have been that close is subjective because of the Lebron factor.

Ok everyone knows I love brown but what in the build a bear corn rows are those ? I voted Tatum, white, jrue but good to see some shots fall for the bench!! Ride that wave. Everyone scored 173 is the number to beat this squad if all hot can do it!! Anyone know the record for most consecutive games with 40 points 1st quarters? Cause that two in a row. I'm guessing 6 from the bulls ?
Brown's #1 fan on this forum.

The three largest margin of victory (+56, +53, +51) in Celtics history happened in the Tatum era. This guy just needs to win a a title or three, really.

Sadly, 5 of their next 7 are gimmes -- Wiz, Grizz, Spurs, Hornets, Nets. But if they go sub-.500 in that stretch, Jimmy might just rage quit on Pat.

Did someone dress as a Boston Celtic in Halloween because this team is downright scary!

Return to Boston Celtics
