Why don't you tell me which one of the previous 5 champs would have been considered a dynasty in the making?
LFGK is a character lol, so not co-signing to any arguments he might get into.
...but a lot of folks were convinced that the Nuggets were a budding dynasty until a Minnesota team whose roster seemed specifically crafted to counter the Nugs bounced them in round two, and suddenly they weren't. So it wouldn't exactly be unprecedented if our roster...which seems to be specifically crafted to counter the Jays...pulled off the upset.
Granted the Wolves had had longer to gel before that series, that previous series with Denver to test themselves without Gobert, and the Nugs had lost one of their key rotation guys from their title winning squad. So it's less likely for us to do it, but if we did, there would absolutely be echoes of Minnesota over Denver.
The knock I've always heard on the Nuggets then and now are that Joker plays with a team that has no other all-star. So that's why I figure they've never been considered a potential dynasty. Honestly, they haven't even had a 60 win season.
I see your point with the roster construction to counter Boston. But that being said, it doesn't seem to have worked so far. I know they won the other night, but even Thibs said they failed to keep the Celtics from shooting 3s, which had been their gameplan. Granted Boston went into an absolute ice cold tail spin in the second half, so it didn't matter.
Overall though, that wasn't really my point before that other dude came into the thread. Of course each fanbase is going to think / hope their team will win. My point was that a 5 year stretch of Champs getting bounced in the second round isn't really much of anything. It was a mistake to even respond to that LFGY dude.
Depends on whether you were asking one of their detractors or scions. The 'Denver is a dynasty in the making' take was a pretty popular one on the General Board last season and you had articles like this about them:
https://www.theringer.com/2023/10/16/nba/denver-nuggets-2023-season-preview-dynasty-christian-braunGranted, I do think you are closer to a dynasty than they were and have better chances of repeating than I thought they did at the time, but to be fair to LFGK, the Nuggets did get that hype until they didn't.
You're absolutely right about 5 years not being very long to assess dynasties & potential dynasties, but the NBA has been trying to emulate some of the NHL's mandated-parity since the complaints about competitiveness during the KD-Warriors era. So that mini-trend does vibe with the changes that the new CBA aimed to achieve.
