This is why I feel so weird about this series:"

The Knicks are still up 3-2 and will have a second chance to close the series out at Madison Square Garden on Friday (8 ET, ESPN), but they’ve now been outscored by 35 points over the five games.

Here are some notes, quotes, numbers and film as the Knicks suffered their first road loss of the playoffs …
Good assessment:

This series should really have been easily winnable. Is what it is. Let’s make them nervous and take game 6.

If this series was an audition of who the owners should trade this summer, KP is running away with first prize.

There's still time for KP to make a difference in this series.

Game 6 would be perfect.

I'm expecting big game from Horfie and Jrue in game 6(fingers crossed), expect White and Brown to be good again. Hopefully, Pritch can do good, too, cause I think he will get open shots, same for Hauser.

You do understand that he could breath but it got worse as the game started?
That's way more probable.

I don't know what to expect from Game 6, but if the Knicks don't win, Game 7 in Boston will be in our favor.

The Knicks are so trash and we're somehow gonna throw this series.

No matter what else happens this playoffs, I just really wanna come back and knock NYK out of the playoffs without Tatum and with a useless porzingis. That would be the funniest thing.

Obvious issues for next game:

-- Can they maintain this energy?
-- Can Thibs make unfortunately useful adjustments?

I'm specifically concerned about attempts to get Kornet in foul trouble.

Defensive rebounding also has to improve somehow in Tatum's absence. 2010 Game 7 still haunts me. The team happens to be laden with productive offensive rebounders (Kornet, Pritchard, Holiday, even Porzingis) who don't usually match that at the defensive end. Brown being both gimped and overloaded with other responsibilities doesn't help.

Hauser can be a sneaky competent defensive rebounder. He needs to disregard any ankle pain and corral some balls.

Nobody figured anything out. It was forced by injury. Did anyone in their right mind think that Tatum initiating the offense every time to just settle for a step back 3 more often than not was the way to win in the playoffs? And yet they just kept going to it.

Pessimistic take: our last game together in the Garden as a championship squad.

Optimistic take: we're still going back to back.

I have optimism.

Box out Robinson. They try to face guard him so he sees the ball and whoever is guarding him is unaware where the ball is.

Or the refs can call for 3 seconds sometimes
Robinson and KAT had a picnic in our paint when they played together

Am I the only hoping for a Queta sighting or what

Yeah me too. He is no Green Kornet but I think he can hold his own for a a couple 6 minute runs.

If the team plays with this spirit next year, I don’t want them to tank and waste A Year. Underdog wins are so satisfying and I won’t care if they end up mid table.

Upper respiratory problem. Guy had this and missed 8 games in February. It’s very weird. Wonder if he’s getting treatment.

Few Knicks fans calling into radio here in NY whining about officiating (Brunson). Meanwhile, JB with a tremendous attack plan and played with pace missing from playoff Tatum. But he should work on the Brunson step on defender's foot "trip" play.

I lose so much respect for players that are constantly flopping (Brunson etc.) Brunson had 22 points, 6 assists and 24 times that he hit the floor for various reasons last night.

Agree. For me it's the duration that is super weird.
