Do people even understand that trading for George and siging max FA would make our next off-season complete nightmare? How many extension it is? Our payroll would be ridiculous, sustainable maybe for one season.

Just earlier today, I did. Someone tweeted the possible tax implications. That's why I'm interested to know what "the other shoe to drop" is and why we had to do the Philly trade this early. What's the plan? 'Cos Bulpett among others have hinted on a trade for a vet. And all season, we've been conditioned to expect a huge FA signing.

If we want George, the very likely scenario is that we agree in principle, but don't execute the trade until after FA. That way we don't need to match dollar for dollar salary. George is at 19.3 and we can't take back more than 125% in this deal so you are looking at needing to send out 14.475 mill. Bradley is at 8.27 mill and Crowder at $6.29M so that would work I believe. Throw in a mediocre pick or two (MIN 2nd and our '18 1st?).

I don't think the 125% cap would apply, actually. But it hardly matters, since I think there's a $5 million cap as well.

Yeah I would believe that a deal for Davis was possible until they traded for Cousins. I guess the only way now is to hope they suck and maybe by the deadline you got yourself a chance..but I assume you'll have to wait until next year..and what do you know..we might have TWO top 5 picks to offer them in the summer..shocking.

I know you guys probably discussed this but I get a funny feeling Porzingis/Anthony/8th pick could be a target.

I have felt this ever since Celtics brought back DSJ for another workout. We all know Ainge is after someone but when you eliminate the usual suspects like Butler/George/Davis there really doesn't seem to be a lot out there.

We all know Knicks could use draft picks. Just speculation but I wouldn't be surprised if some trade of Porzingis to Boston, Melo to 3rd team and a boatload of picks and young players were being discussed.

Just a thought.

We have to waive Zeller and Mickey to create cap room to first sign a FA. Not possible.
