what are the odds that "The Gravedigger" catches on as Jaylen's nickname?
50:1?
1,000:1?

JB with 36 10 and 5 to overcome Banchero and Wagner in game 2. That was a slick stutter dribble around Bitadze and into Banchero where JB didn't get the plant he wanted for the dunk so he scooped right off the glass (1:45).

51% from 2, 44% from 3, 84% from the line and 23 ppg in a series against a top defensive team. In addition:

- stepped up when Tatum was out with a 36/10/5 game
- big time defense on Paulo in the third quarter of game 4, shifting momentum
- put Paulo in foul trouble in the close out game leading to the game breaking open.

One hell of a series from Mr. Brown!

That's why I'm not in favor of trading him for Giannis.

yeah jaylen has been excellent, playing within himself and working hard on both ends. perfect option 1a guy.

that said if i'm offered that trade i'm taking it faster than you can say Antetokounmpo.

No doubt Giannis is the better player, but JB is the better fit for this current Celtics team.

JB can defend the likes of Brunson and Luka.

The shooting will also be missed as Giannis is not a good shooter.

One of the strengths of this Celtics team is they are balanced.

Replacing JB with Giannis will make the Cs unbalanced.

You saw multiple times in the last years. Adding superstar to superstar to superstar on a team is not a good idea.
Fortunately for us you are not Celtics GM.
Trading a true Celtics player showed everybody what he is capable of doing for casual stars around the league is not a great look.

Actually I think it's exactly the opposite. Giannis balances Tatum much better. It's a credit to Mazzulla that he's made the Jays' pairing work, but I think it'd be a lot easier with Giannis. He's a great defender, rebounds like a big, and puts insane pressure on a D but in a very different way than Tatum. How do you build a wall against Giannis and at the same time match up on Tatum and all the C's shooters? Our team with Giannis instead of JB is precisely what Milwaukee has been trying (and failing) to build for years. Unstoppable.

And Giannis is not a casual star lol. The guy has been carrying the Bucks franchise loyally for years, and they have mostly let him down. I see it more like a KG situation, he's a warrior who deserves better. I'm glad Brad is about building the best team, not being a sentimental homer (see Smart, M). I love JB but the talent difference is real.

Great defender? I would say overrated defender. Often injured during or before playoffs: 2020 injured vs heat, 2023 injured vs Heat, 2024 injured before playoff.
He won a title cause Brooklyn lost kyrie after game 2, down 0-2, and with Harden on one leg!
Milwaukee almost lost a series playing basically vs KD and a bunch of scrubs.
Can't sink a FT, can't shoot, not great in crunch time.
The physical gap is great vs JB, not the talent.

The game winning layup by Haliburton, to eliminate the Bucks in Game 5, was against Giannis.

Giannis was just not quick enough to stay in front of Haliburton.

I don't think Hali would have gotten past JB that easily.

The speed of the Celtic perimeter defense would suffer if it's KP, Giannis, JT, Jrue, and White.

Other teams are trying to get good to great wing players because the Celtics have proven that a dynamic wing duo is a powerful combination.

Just like the Knicks investing in Anunoby and Bridges or the Cavs trading for Hunter.

I just don't like the fit because the speed of the defense will suffer if you replace JB with Giannis.

Giannis wouldn't guard the same guys as Jaylen, he would guard the same guys as Horford/KP in our current double big lineup. Tatum or Jrue would be guarding Hali. The speed suffers slightly but the rim protection and rebounding improve significantly. i'd say overall we'd be better. Tatum actually does better guarding perimeter guys where he can use his length, which is one of the reasons for the success of our double big lineup.

Giannis might be a bit overrated on D but he did actually win DPOY a few years ago and I don't see that he's much worse now. JB and Giannis are very different types of defenders but both are well above average.

as for FTs, Giannis had a down year but career wise he is 69% and Jaylen is 73%. not a huge difference. and yes he gets injured, tbh that would actually be my biggest concern but let's not act like JB is a Tatum-like iron man, he's had his share. i worry about jaylen's knee issues going forward, for a guy whose game is predicated on athleticism.

I’ve been saying “don’t trade Jaylen” a lot over the years but I would trade him for Giannis. Giannis Tatum together would do some serious damage.

I want no part of Giannis or that contract.

With Lillard's injury, I don't see the Bucks moving Giannis at all now. IMO, they're like the Nuggets and are content with that one recent trophy and would rather keep building around the one draw they still have.

Nowwwww, if a team like the Spurs or Rockets who are playoff teams and by some miracle get that 1st pick, then maybe just maybe if I'm those teams GM's I would consider a blockbuster deal with that #1 pick.

Spurs get Giannis

Bucks get Flagg, Castle, Johnson bunch of other 1st's

or

Rockets get Giannis

Bucks get Flagg, Sengun, Sheppard, Londale and a bunch of 1st's.

Man, you ain’t a Celtics fan. Stay in your lane. We are not trading Jaylen brown for Gianni’s. Celtics chemistry is cemented. I like Gianni’s too but no. Giannis needs to hit Rockets or Grizzlies
