I think he **** the bed, similar to his first half-season with the Celtics. It could go either way though.

The cost to rid oneself of a contract like Wallace's (in the off season) would be about the equivalent of what we received as compensation for taking on Thornton's contract. While I in no way suggest that we consider doing so without damn good reason, being under the cap by over $30m could put us in position to add a couple players like Leonard (other wing) and DJ. If that is the case, then you send a 1st and mid tier young asset to move Wallace's contract.

Despite all his faults this is a perfect situation for Green. He can come off the bench and provide some scoring, He does not have to be the man like he had to be on this team and he can be the 3rd or 4th option he actually is. This is a good trade for the grizzlies.

Yeah, I think this is a good situation for him, but he likely won't come off the bench. He will start, if not immediately, soon.

I thought we were a pretty good situation for him. Wasn't asked to be THE guy, bench role to ease into the team, starting on occasion but was given minutes to show was he had. He just does not have the consistent fire to play the game. I love what he can do, but when you get what he can do so infrequently, he has to be a third or fourth option. He is a rich man's (not real rich, like won a mil in the lotto type of rich) Nate Robinson, can win you a few games, will dazzle you from time to time, but cannot be relied on for the day in day out.

Best of luck to him though, I have no hatred for the Grizz.

Well, I have to say that I'm glad to see uncle Jeff go. He is infuriatingly inconsistent and doesn't seem to want to be here.

All things considered the Celtics didn't seem to get a lot for him. Even with all his shortcomings Jeff is a starting-caliber small forward. It seems strange that the Brandan Wright trade nearly netted as much. It will be interesting to see what constrictions the pick from Memphis has, hopefully it will be unprotected. I would have liked also to get at least a second rounder from them.

It's more than a little ironic that Jeff bookended both the beginning and end of the beginning of the rebuild.

His acquisition (for Perk) was the first of Danny's post Big 3 future-based moves. Danny said at the time that Jeff made the Cs better both in the short and long term, an outlook that sadly didn't come to fruition in either instance. At the time people termed it the "reload" but in actuality it was the start of the rebuild, Jeff the bridge to the future who was before today the last link to the past, and who now with his departure finally completes the total teardown of that same past, and makes this team a coherent mess of youth, picks, flexibility, and assets. Green was both the first domino and the last; the first building block acquired as we dismantled this team brick by brick all the way from the top down down down to the bottom and now with the teardown complete the building block who didn't make sense in the context of what might be built on way back up up up; a guy who signaled both "hey, we're thinking about the future" and "hey, we're thinking about nothing but the future". It's been quite a 4 years, huh Jeff? Time is a flat circle.

I really think Brad might start him at one point for vet leadership or "matchup of the night"

Hopefully Ainge has the sense to waive Prince.

Good for Green. Any restrictions on the pick? --If not, good for the C's. Really pumped for Green on Memphis. He adds another dynamic for them. That team is gonna be nasttttty.

So upset we didn't get Salmons back =(

The Green hate on here was so over the top anyways. Glad he's going to a good situation.

Credit goes to Chris Vernon on Twitter for posting this:

"Pick protection on Grizz pick giving Celtics - 2017 1-10, 2018 1-12, 2019 1-8, 2020 1-6, 2021 unprotected."

Looks like the celtics may get a mid to late first round pick in 2017, unless the Grizzlies really go down the tank.

Honestly tho after KG got traded I followed Green more than anyone.

Now outside of Olynyk, Sully (kind of, hes bothering me this year), Young and Smart i have no player that i like to follow on the teamat this point.

Here's to hoping something happens with all these assetts sooner rather than later...

Yeah, these games have been tough to watch, tougher now that Jeff Green isn't occasionally streaking to the rim for a highlight dunk. Really, there isn't much to watch for but here's my excitement rankings:

1. Smart's defense. So so good.
2. KO's spin moves from the 3 point line. Just a thing of beauty.
3. James Young open from deep.
4. Crowder's intensity.
5. Zeller's decisive flip shots in the lane.
6. The occasional wow pass from Evan Turner.
7. Brad's faces. Freeze frame him sometime and you'll see split second glimpses of exacerbation, horror, disgust.
8. Avery Bradley getting in the zone.
9. Sully getting work done on the boards.

The rest is a trainwreck from which I wish I could avert thine eyes.

Still need to remember that Grizz owe Nuggets a pick 1st. So, while the 2017 and 2018 protections are listed, I do believe Denver maintains first dibs in 2017, and considering the Sapien rule, we still likely are looking at 2019 at the earliest.

Grizzlies are going to be real tough if they can get and stay healthy.
