Lakers laid the smack down on OKC today. I looked at the box score and didn’t watch, but Oklahoma City had a fully healthy roster, everybody played, and they got dismantled! Wowsers!

I still wonder if they can make the finals. Idk which team can give them problems but we shall see. Lakers surely gave them a smackdown.

Like I said, Lakers and GSW will be a problem for OKC.

Right now OKC could face those 2 teams in the 2nd round and WCF.

With all the uncertainty for end of the bench guys, the decision Craig made signing with Boston was very smart. He most likely will get playoff minutes because he can knock down 3’s. Unlike Oshae, I can’t see a team not bringing Craig in on a vet min deal next season.

Cavs lose to Kings, Thunder lose to Lakers. Unacceptable. This is not 2025 Finalists behavior!!

He looked pretty dominant against the most athletic team in NBA last year in WCF. On paper, the Mavs did not look like finalists but they laid waste to the West on his back. I think he is a long way from washed up.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

Luka's not washed up, but the athleticism has dropped a bit.

Yeah it's actually really noticeable. He's still in the highest echelon of NBA talent, but at 26 years old it is a little shocking to see the downswing in athleticism.

When the thread first popped up I was ready to mock the OP because Luka is still so impressive, I mean the man carried his squad to the Finals last year, but when you actually watch the video there really is no denying that the drop-off is real even if his counting stats are holding up.

Part of me wants to say it's actually really encouraging that he can still be so damn effective despite the change in his athleticism. It'd suggest that his game should age really well and he'll be one of those NBA stars who can play well into their later years with that old man at the rec center game. On the other hand though, you look at it from the Mavs perspective and I can understand there being some reticence to give him such an obscene amount of money when you watch that video and start extrapolating that decline into future years because you have to wonder if there is a cliff looming where his skill doesn't prop up his game in a league increasingly dominated by freak athletes.

I still wouldn't have ever even considered trading him, but I think this does put into better perspective what the Dallas front office was wrestling with. It also makes me considerably more comfortable with the deal we gave JT. He's been so healthy, so consistent and his game I feel like has that same "old-man" element that will age incredibly well while also still being a somewhat sneaky athletic freak. At this stage it feels like an incredibly safe bet. A little less confident in JB in that same vein given that he's had nagging injuries throughout his career to date and relies much more on his explosiveness, but the silver lining has to be that until this recent snag with his knee acting up, his athleticism hasn't faltered as he gets into the core years of his prime.

They didn’t have anything to play for…it’s hard to get up. Lakers are in the mix for home court first round or the playoffs in. Every game matters for them.

Something about the Celtics winning the title in Al Horford's rookie year after he wins the NCAA title then winning the title again with Horford the year before his Florida Gators wins the title again is kismetic and magical.

Anyway, congrats to the Florida Gators for their first title since 2007.

I cant believe 2007 was 18 yrs ago. I remember that draft so well... I didnt think there was a chance we were gonna get Al Horford at #5 though, and, obviously, we traded #5 and Delonte for Ray, but I remember 2007 so clearly, seems so much like yesterday. Cray

Anywya, congrats Florida Gators! Now, let's get onto the NBA playoffs and the NBA draft combine and workout season!

As I wrote several pages ago- West race for 3-8 will be really tight. 2 games between #3 and #8. There will be some interesting stuff.
Good assessment:

PLO wrote:Tatum played OK - took advantage of a few mismatches - decent on the defensive end. He is what we thought he was going into the season - a technically very proficient player operating close to his career ceiling as a rookie.
