Well, I think we tried with the JB and other isolations. It didn't end well as Brunson is a passable 1 vs 1 defender when trying to back him up
IND is attacking him on the move and he is struggling to backpedal to the running player
JB did this in the 5th game which resulted in 5 fouls in the 3rd

Our killer whale offense to get a mismatch and an isolation backfired here and the whale was washed to the beach and died
I prefer the movement, paint touch, passing system much better

You’d rather have him over a chip? I wouldn’t take anyone on this team or the NBA, over the chip. You can imagine we could have had the opportunity for it with him, but the reality is we won it through trading him. With hindsight tho? It’s too hard to win a chip to want to go back with hindsight and choose a player over one.

Not over a chip, i know Jrue was a piece to the chip but we also had White and we steamrolled through the playoffs against banged up teams. I'm keeping Nesmith.

If Jrue won the finals mvp last season I would not have been confused. Saved our behinds MULTIPLE times in that Pacers series. Jrue was extremely pivotal in us winning it all. You can’t wash away what he did and think maybe series would have been closer but we still may have won. You can’t get much closer than all 4 wins against the pacers, without some of the things he did, we could have lost each one of those games. Things a top-tier defender, vet and champion would do. He was more pivotal than DWhite in the whole scheme, though both were very important.

Anthony Edwards doing some acrobatics, keeping the steal inbound.

Those 4 remaining orgs have ZERO championships the last 40 years or so.

Not even one!

1 of them will have 1 this year
And I envy one aspect - they let guys play and contribute, even if your starters are not banged up

Last year fans from other teams were wishing their team had a starting 5 like the Celtics.

Sure, everyone wished they had Boston’s starting 5 last year
This year we needed a spark against NY and our young players were still learning how to clap off the bench
Gotta love the Celtics player development process and instilling confidence in young players

It's hard to do player development when you're a contender.

Even OKC gave up on Giddey and got Caruso and Hartenstein.

Even the 80s and 2010s Celtics only developed 1 young player, Reggie Lewis in the 80s and Rondo in the 2010s, after the Big 3 era ended.

It is hard. This is why the coaching staff and GM get paid. To do the hard stuff
We have some aging players, injury prone player/s, cap space issues and 82 games in a season. I wish we developed 1 player that can contribute in meaningful minutes in a playoff game. Queta? Roco? Walsh? Peterson?
KP, Hauser and JT missed games, Jrue and JB had lingering injuries etc. Not a meaningful minute from a player 9 to 15

I hope it will change next year

Last time we had injury prone players like Smart and Rob, they were gone. I hope Brad does the same here. These younger teams in the playoffs have been relatively healthy. Older teams have had more of an issue this playoffs. Curry, Aaron Gordon, LeBron, Dame, etc.

As a former New Yorker, I still read the news up there. It seems like Thibs is getting blasted for his short rotations and starters getting worn down. While not developing anyone else. Knick starters do look very fatigued at the end of games.

Winning it all is so hard. Really makes you appreciate the times you are able to do it. OKC better get it done. Can't just assume there is always next year. We know better.

Well Yes. But Other than injuries factoring in, they are so young overall and still probably have the best draft assets remaining. Hard to imagine they will not be extremely close to contending for years.

Isn't it wild to you that a young KD RW, and harden never won a title? Things change so fast in the NBA. You never know when it's your last chance.

So True. And they have so little time. 20 years is maxing it, if they're lucky.
Some only get a few years.
