Has there ever, in the entire Ainge administration, once, ever, been a player that was rumored to the Celtics, that they eventually drafted, let alone traded up for? Maybe I'm just saying this because I'd puke if they traded everything for a big, but I can't recall any draft day rumors regarding Ainge as having ever been true.

Well last year the primary target if you believe the reports was Herro and Ainge got sniped by Riley and the heat. Perhaps they don’t want to risk that same scenario happening again this year with OO. Also remember we tried to trade up for Winslow as well. Ainge himself also said they made calls trying to trade up for Robert Williams and that they got lucky he fell in their laps at 27.

I wonder if Ainge is willing to overpay to get his final piece this time to go with Tatum and Brown

But when did those reports come out? Awfully convenient if they come out after the draft. He can say whatever he wants after the draft and there is no way to verify one way of the other.

I can comfortably confirm that Herro was our target going into the draft.

Well we do have an interested partner to trade with trying to work out the details and we still have 3 names on the list Hali Issac and Kong. Also might be getting a pick in return from another trade but got nothing outside that bit of info. So far though only one bite and even then not a done deal the feeling is about 50% . The other trade is a player for pick and etc. I'll know more Thursday

We worked Herro out twice pre draft and there was considerable smoke from several draft outlets that had us high on him. He was being mocked in the 20’s and then jumped all the way up to 14 to us by several mocks. Unfortunately Riley knew it too and pulled the trigger before we could

I was trying to agree with ya there. Out of x drafts he's done, the only one I could come up with that came to fruition was Tatum.

I am not doubting that there were reports, but there is no way to confirm whether they were true or not. The Celtics didn't draft him so could just have been all smoke.

They didn’t get the opportunity. I think the cat has been out of the bag on celtics picks on more than one occasion and they sometimes just don’t get their man. Sometimes they do like when they traded down for Tatum. Once the trade was made there were reports all over the place that Tatum was their guy despite still wanting to visit with Jackson. Sure it could be smoke as there is no way to 100% confirm that OO is the target, but this is hardly an unprecedented situation either

My man!
I want to keep my ticket on the Paul Reed bandwagon though too

IRL it’s a smokescreen to trade up (with all three picks) and take Cole Anthony at 7 with Okongwu on the board...

I was thinking the same kanter for late 1st or even a high 2nd with the way our scouting report has been looking. But the real herro is my dude I went to college with he had to put up with me during the pitino era and drops me dimes once in a while they pan out lol. But I appreciate the board through out the years been mostly cool peeps so I share wat I get when I get it or think I've clues into something. Thanks

Josh Jackson is a free agent, he is worth a look at the vet min for sure, very athletic, can defend. still ironing out that shot.

Definitely. He played really well for Memphis for a stretch and his potential is still so high, so prob not going to get him for the vet min. I think Memphis will just retain him (not sure if they have any bird rights, though—they already declined his team option before the season hiatus) or he'll go somewhere he would actually have a chance at minutes. 23 year olds with that defensive profile and offensive creation ability are so rare.

we work out guys multiple times and are mocked to guys every year. It doesn't mean squat and certainly doesn't prove our interest or that rumors are true.

It makes a great board even better on those rare occasions when someone has a real connection. I’m sure most of what gets discussed/what teams “want” to do never develop anyway so no worries, it just ads to the fun. Thanks again!
