Are you sure about that deadline issue? I was under the impression that trades take 48 hours to complete becasue players need to take physicals... if both teams agree to wave that, we could still make a trade for Bynum tomorrow AM and cut him by the deadline?

Also... I'm not clear on what you are saying about Hump? We no longer have any motivation to make the Bynum deal.. but we could now trade Hump for him? Are you insinuating that we would trade Hump for him and NOT cut him? What's the point in that? Hump is better and more dependable (and not a jerk) at this point.

The deadline for Bynum's salary to become fully guaranteed is 5:00 pm tomorrow.

Correct... but it generally takes 48 hours for a trade to become official. I am not positive... but I think if we wave Bynum's physical AND the Cavs/other teams do the same... that we could still make a trade and be able to cut him by 5pm tomorrow.

What about Ross/Fields for Bass/Crawford?

Fields is worthless but his contract is the same as Bass' and we have Humphries/Sully/Olynyk to play the 4. Ross is locked into a rookie deal and if we intend on letting Crawford walk we get a decent SG prospect in return.

Toronto look like a playoff team atm and get two vets to help with this season. Crawford can come off of the bench and Bass opens up space for Val, Amir and guys like DeRozan.

HU? So we trade two good players for one crappy player and one "ok" player? I literally can't figure out what you are going for here? There are better backup PGs available every summer as a FA. You want to straddle us with a BAD contact instead of Bass's "fair" contact? And downgrade Craw to Ross just because Craw is going to be a FA? This seems like the opposite type of trade we should be looking for.

With the Lee trade Ainge now has over 2 mil in space under the lux tax, he can sign to minimum salary players and stay below the lux tax and doesn't really have any other way of spending the money. So there is no urgency in making a cap space trade anymore.

Without the Lee trade Boston did not have enough cap space to take on the extra salary in Bynum's deal, Boston would have had to include Brooks with Hump. That is no longer necessary.

Hump is more valuable than saving 6 mil if you can't spend it.

Bynum is probably more valuable than Hump because of the non guaranteed salary for next season and the fact that he is a former all star and not just some skank's former husband. He also may just be Vin Baker and Hump Vitaly.

The only reason to even consider it is the gaping hole in the middle of the floor called a lack of a center. I know winning isn't important but we want Sullinger and Olynyk to be able to play develop their games and currently it is pretty ugly with the PF parade.

I do not believe Bynum can help us win games.

Washington may be a good shout.

Houston need a stretch 4 (maybe a three team deal?).
Would also be a good fit in Detroit as a bench player with Smith/Drummond/Monroe not being great midrange players.
Portland needs bench help but could only offer Trob/filler which is still a contract (maybe another team takes Trob for a 2nd and an expiring?).
Would also be a decent player for Golden State or Charlotte.

There is certainly a market for Bass.

Agreed.

Lee was the harder contract to move and Ainge already did that.

Have to wonder what a Brandon Bass/Jordan Crawford package could fetch...

Couple ideas:

Charlotte:
Out: Bass, Crawford, Bogans
In: Ben Gordon, Jeff Taylor, CHA '15 1st, DET 2014 1st (top 8 protected in '14, top 1 protected in '15).
C's clear Bass' contract and get another likely mid round '14 pick unless Det fades. If they do and wind up top 8, which isn't out of the realm of possibility, the pick gets rolled over to '15 with little protection. The CHA '15 pick gives Danny another asset. Charlotte gets a shot at the playoffs for spare parts and picks.

Cleveland:
Out: Bass, Crawford
In: A. Bennett, A. Gee, and either Mia or Mem 2015 1st round pick.
Cle gets a solid 4 to backup Thompson and more offense to bring off the bench in Crawford. Bennett has been a bust and they'd have to give up on him, Gee's contract isn't guaranteed for next season and Danny gets another pick to add to his arsenal.

Slight variation: Add J. Green going to CLE and E. Clark + D. Waiters to BOS and get rid of another big contract. Probably not likely an option now that they've dealt for Deng. Deal would send C's into tank mode the rest of '14

Denver:
Out: Bass, Crawford
In: A. Miller, D. Arthur, E. Fournier, 2014 or 2016 NYK 1st round pick, whichever Danny prefers.
Denver deals Miller, who they're trying to deal right now anyway and he can come over and run the point while Rondo takes his time coming back. Then he's an expiring contract after the season. Bass is an upgrade over Arthur, Crawford an upgrade over Miller, although not a perfect fit at PG. Danny gets another promising pick. Fournier isn't a make or break addition to the deal.

Minny:
Crazy deal:
Out: J. Green, B. Bass, J. Crawford
In: G. Dieng, S. Muhammad, JJ Barea, C. Brewer, D. Cunningham, 2 future firsts (2015 and 17, limited protection, top 5 or so).

C's get out of Green and Bass contracts and go into full-on tank mode. Team gets a look at Dieng and Muhammad as potential long-term guys, 2 extra draft picks, and a great shot at a top 3-5 pick in the draft. Minny trades in spare parts and unproven rookies for 3 solid players. Green is an upgrade at the 3, Crawford gives them scoring off the bench, and Bass gives the Wolves a solid backup for Love (or they can go small with Green/Bass/Love in the frontcourt).

NO:
Out: Bass
In: Steimsma, A. Rivers, future 1st round pick

Almost left the pick out of the deal, but Rivers has been so bad that I just don't see him bringing a lot of value to that deal. Steamer expires after the season and the C's get out of Bass' deal.

I like where your head is at, but I think you have effectively come up with 5 trades that the other team would laught at. Just my opinion, but I dint think there's a shot that we get those combinations of picks/assets/expirings for Bass and Craw.
