Those are all reasonable trades IMO... But as the season goes on and Crawford continues to play well, I think he's being undervalued in trade scenarios. He's a 6'5 point guard who doesn't turn it over excessively and can create his own shot.. You don't just give him away to get rid of Bass.

He's also a FA which significantly reduces his value.

Also, he's only played about 30 games of productive, efficient basketball. That doesn't erase what he's been most of his career.

underneathtoDJ wrote:Couple ideas:

Charlotte:
Out: Bass, Crawford, Bogans
In: Ben Gordon, Jeff Taylor, CHA '15 1st, DET 2014 1st (top 8 protected in '14, top 1 protected in '15).
C's clear Bass' contract and get another likely mid round '14 pick unless Det fades. If they do and wind up top 8, which isn't out of the realm of possibility, the pick gets rolled over to '15 with little protection. The CHA '15 pick gives Danny another asset. Charlotte gets a shot at the playoffs for spare parts and picks.

Cleveland:
Out: Bass, Crawford
In: A. Bennett, A. Gee, and either Mia or Mem 2015 1st round pick.
Cle gets a solid 4 to backup Thompson and more offense to bring off the bench in Crawford. Bennett has been a bust and they'd have to give up on him, Gee's contract isn't guaranteed for next season and Danny gets another pick to add to his arsenal.

Slight variation: Add J. Green going to CLE and E. Clark + D. Waiters to BOS and get rid of another big contract. Probably not likely an option now that they've dealt for Deng. Deal would send C's into tank mode the rest of '14

Denver:
Out: Bass, Crawford
In: A. Miller, D. Arthur, E. Fournier, 2014 or 2016 NYK 1st round pick, whichever Danny prefers.
Denver deals Miller, who they're trying to deal right now anyway and he can come over and run the point while Rondo takes his time coming back. Then he's an expiring contract after the season. Bass is an upgrade over Arthur, Crawford an upgrade over Miller, although not a perfect fit at PG. Danny gets another promising pick. Fournier isn't a make or break addition to the deal.

Minny:
Crazy deal:
Out: J. Green, B. Bass, J. Crawford
In: G. Dieng, S. Muhammad, JJ Barea, C. Brewer, D. Cunningham, 2 future firsts (2015 and 17, limited protection, top 5 or so).

C's get out of Green and Bass contracts and go into full-on tank mode. Team gets a look at Dieng and Muhammad as potential long-term guys, 2 extra draft picks, and a great shot at a top 3-5 pick in the draft. Minny trades in spare parts and unproven rookies for 3 solid players. Green is an upgrade at the 3, Crawford gives them scoring off the bench, and Bass gives the Wolves a solid backup for Love (or they can go small with Green/Bass/Love in the frontcourt).

NO:
Out: Bass
In: Steimsma, A. Rivers, future 1st round pick

Almost left the pick out of the deal, but Rivers has been so bad that I just don't see him bringing a lot of value to that deal. Steamer expires after the season and the C's get out of Bass' deal.

I think you are way overvaluing Bass and Crawford., not going to get first round picks for those guys unless a contender has an injury and is desperate...then maybe.

A team I personally am interested in are the Phoenix Suns. They possess all the qualities I look for in a good trade partner, big expiring (Okafor 14 Mill), young interesting talent buried in a deep position (Goodwin, 6’5”,19 yrs old, aggressive defender), and a LOAD of 1st round picks in the draft. For picks they have Minnesota’s top 13 protected, Washington’s top 12 protected, Their own, and Pacers top 14 protected which sit currently at 14, 18, 22, 30. Like for me I could see a Bass/Gwall for Okafor and Goodwin with say the Washington Pick. But you could also use like Humpries expiring and Crawford, the bottom line being there’s many combinations of assets that can get the Celtics to 16 Million and have a good chance to get another pick.

The trade partner that intrigues me the most right now is OKC.

They have Kendrick Perkins on a complete dead-weight contract. We have a 12 mil expiring in Kris Humphries.

Reggie Jackson, Steven Adams, Jeremy Lamb, Andre Roberson, Perry Jones III all look like promising players. We could give them an upgrade at C, throw in Crawford to upgrade their bench, take Perk's contract off their hands in 2014, saving them 9.5 mil and freeing that money up for them to spend better... and pick up 2/3 of Lamb/PJ3/Roberson.

Totally agree OKC is right there too, if there was a way to get Perry Jones III and Lamb I would do it in a heartbeat, not sure what it would take tho. Perkins wouldn’t be that bad either if that’s what we would need to take on, it probably makes Rondo happy and if there was another trade to get a starting Center having Perk as a backup would be a really solid rotation.

Yeah, this way OKC could decline Crawford next year and have 14 mil in their pocket they wouldn't have had before. Enough to resign starting SG Sefolosha and either extend young guys or add a big man (Gasol taking a discount to play there would be very cool).

Just tried out Hump/Crawford for PJ3, Lamb and Perk and it works money wise and could even use their Maynor TPE on Crawford to make the salaries equal, but even if they didn’t they can take on Crawford’s extra 2 mill. Where do I sign?

OKC can just amnesty Perkins if they want to they certainly aren't going to throw away good cheap young players to get rid of him.

Seems OKC will try to use their assets (Lamb, Jackson, Roberson, Jones, Dallas pick) to get someone like Aaron Affalo. Maybe Boston gets involved to help facilitate, as I doubt Orlando will want Perkins...

Don't count out the cheap owner situation. They could've anmestied him last summer and signed better FA.

So PHX takes on Wallace for an expiring, promising young kid, AND a first round pick?

That's an extremely homer trade man.

PHX is looking for a star. Not Boston's role players.

Perkins and Lamb to Boston, Afflalo and Bayless to OKC, Keith Bogans, and Crawford to Orlando. Would OKC do it?

Rondo/Pressey
Bradley/Lamb/Brooks
Green/Wallace/Bogans
Sullinger/Bass/Humphries
Perkins/Olynyk/Faverani

OKC would but no chance Orlando does.

Afflalo is playing like an all-star this season. Bogans and Crawford is not even close to an acceptable return.

Hump and Bradley also works saleries wise and still gives them players that are better than Okafor's DNP and Goodwins 4 min/game but all that money still expires so they could go after a "Star" FA.

I'm just happy the Cavs went for Deng instead of Pau so I can keep my Pau trade fantasies alive!

Come on Lakers, Pau for Hump, Bogans and Faverani. Heck we'll even throw in Bayless for Blake as a side deal.

Who? Seriously who could they have signed if they had amnestied Perk? It doesn't get them under the cap and Perk plays 20 mpg for them still even if it isn't pretty. They would have turned around and spent the MLE on a veteran big man to replace him. Yeah they could have giving 5 mil a year more Dalembert to just compound the mess. They drafted a young guy to replace him and they will have the option to dump Perk this off season or let him finish his deal. It isn't about being cheap it is about being smart about how you use spend your money.

What would it take for them to do it? Maybe Perry Jones from OKC and the Clippers 1st from us? Would Lamb be worth a first? Ehh..maybe a deal between the 3 wouldn't be so simple.

They could 've moved Ibaka to C and sign Millsap or Al Jefferson. Or go after Iggy and play Collison as starting PF.
Or after seeing how good Martin was, I'm sure Korver or JJ Reddick would be at the same level, at least. Is Sefolosha and Perkins better than Korver and Pachulia? I don't think so.

Finding taker team for Selfo would be easy, considering he's in his last year of contract.

Also, without amnestying Perkins: They have 6 mil. Kevin Martin exception that could have been used on Kyle Korver. Paying K-Mart 12 mil. per year is bad, but why not use that money on a great 3 PT shooter?

If Ainge DOES decide to be a buyer, I would love Pau Gasol.

I'm gonna throw this up on the main board for giggles.

Return to Boston Celtics
