There was a country rock revival in the late 60's, after the Byrds released "Sweetheart of the Rodeo." After the original Burrito Brothers broke up, Chris Hillman joined J.D. Souther and Richie Furay (from Buffalo Springfield) to form the Souther Hillman Furay Band. Then Furay joined Jim Messina and Rusty Young (on steel guitar) to form Poco.
To be a stickler, after Chris Hillman left the Burritos, he joined forces with Steve Stills. Manassas, remember?
Yes, their first album is really, really good. It is rumored that Jerry Garcia played on several of the cuts, but was never credited.
