So far so good in the bubble if Mannix is to be believed on the likelihood of this whole thing getting completed.

Great insight from Kanter. Here are a few notes:

- Tatum and Brown look amazing
- Kemba looks great when he’s been on the court and lean. He is a GREAT leader on and off the court and on sidelines.
- Grant’s three ball improved. Says he’s making them consistently and has been the best shooter during practices in Orlando. Claims Grant is playing like a 3 man now with his shooting ability
- Smart is a cheat code with his energy for these games. Says only Westbrook can get team fired up like Smart.
- Main focus for him and teammates is to prove the haters wrong. Says there is an optional shoot around every night from 10-12 and almost every Celtics player is there while other teams don't have all their guys

I'm skeptical of reporting coming from our own players, so I'll believe it when I see it. But if it's true that Grant has added a solid three-point shot, that would be a huge plus for us. Bench shooting was a huge weakness for us before the season was suspended, and that's going to be doubly true when Hayward is unavailable for the birth of his child.

An interesting effect of the season suspension is that we basically got a second offseason. Young guys like Grant had an opportunity to train individually after seeing where they needed to improve. I don't know if he was focusing on practicing shooting during that time, can't find that info anywhere, but it does sound like he spent a lot of energy on improving fitness and analyzing film. Hopefully that pays off.

ESPN list so take it with a grain of salt but nonetheless shows the talent on the roster

Grant Williams is the most cerebral rookie I have ever seen !! Malcolm Brogdon comes to mind but Grant effects more winning things on the floor !
Grant's body, though a little short, is built very well and he has solid to good to sneaky-good athleticism. He has enough strength to man the 5, his attitude mental toughness and work ethic are elite !

It would not surprise me at all if his 3pt shot became more consistent here in the short term ... either way his 3 ball will come around ! Iirc he has shot like 35% since that dreadful start ...

WE GET TO SEE SOME B BALL IN A COUPLE MORE WEEKS !!!

I’m willing to bet money that Harry Giles is a Celtic next year. Makes too much sense not to give him the entire MLE to come play with Tatum

I'm with that. 6'10", 22 yrs old. He'd fit right in here.

Assuming a flat tax threshold / apron from this year, and no teamshattering trades (a la Hayward out), we project to be above the apron next year, meaning we're limited to the tax-payer MLE, about 5.7mil or so.

It seems really strange to me that SAC would not match that, but I guess they've already effectively done that by declining his 4th year option of ~4mil. If they wanted him at 5.7, presumably they would have wanted him at 4. Though I guess things can change.

Why is he so on the outs over there?

Edit: Just read the thread on the Kings board. Seems like health is a huge factor. Then some attitude, some ability, some Kings being Kings.... Who knows.

Apparently the concern is with Giles defense. The knee surgeries have robbed him of lateral quickness. I read that in a few places but I have not seen Giles play this year. Offensively he is quite promising.

PnR has been a staple in Walker's offensive arsenal even when he was in Charlotte. This season, almost half of Kemba's scoring possessions have come via PnR (48.8%) and he's been incredibly efficient at it (94.2% percentile). Both numbers are tops in the team. His scoring efficiency of 1.08 points per possession is his highest in the five years stats.nba.com has tracked that data. It helps when you have multiple scoring/shooting threats surrounding you. Special shoutout to Theis, Kanter, and Grant for setting great picks, freeing up Kemba for his pullup threes. Wait until we have a real above-the-rim roll threat in Timelord able to stay on the floor and learn the art of screen-setting.

IT/Kyrie never exceeded 35% PnR frequency in their time in Boston.
