Terrible.

Boston sports has officially entered the dark ages.

They want a strong locker room presence that will be comfortable mentoring a younger QB and wont throw a **** fit if/when he eventually loses his job.

Is that supposed to sell me on the move? The guy can’t throw a football to save his life.

Newton had 8 total TD passes, ranked 33rd in the league amongst QBs. Sad since there’s only 32 teams. When “strong locker room presence” is the only redeeming quality a guy who’s slotted to be playing the most important position on the field has, it’s pretty telling...

Belichick had no succession plan in place at QB and has gotten completely undressed ever since Brady announced he was bolting to Tampa.

One season later, Bill still doesn’t have a plan, meanwhile the GOAT has added another title to his legendary resume and just signed a contract extension to keep on playing....

Belichick and Kraft bet completely wrong. For their sake I hope they turn this around quickly, because if not, the media and fanbase will eat them alive and turn on them in due time.

we'll always have "the Patriots LOVE Jarrett Stidham"

well the Patriots have "a" "quarterback" -- time to go land those big fish in FA!

I would hope they at least spoke with Alex Smith, in that case.

Cam will not be here next year, lol.

Bill likes Cam. A lot. I disagree vehemently with it. But he likes him a lot.

Bump.

OK, but please do not claim victory on a guy who was our worst QB in 30 years lmao.

This is a terrible development.

I am unequivocally not. He’s not good.

The only positives are that were prob going to draft a QB high. And that Cam can sell Golladay on the Patriots culture not being the same hell hole Detroit was.

Also, please delete the spoiler lol

Cam isn’t good, but it’s an insanely incentive laden deal, and basically guarantees they draft a QB.

Lance is their guy, from what I’ve heard. He can learn how to bounce 10 yard out patterns from Cam, then take his job in week 10.

Itll be him or Fields, unless the draft falls terribly out of our favor. Someone who can run the same offense we’ll have for Cam.

Also, Lance’s speciality [other than running] is that he was very accurate on short yard passes. Medium/longer routes were more iffy, but likely mechanical.

Lance is a special arm talent, IMO. Just gotta redshirt him so he gets up to speed like the Chiefs did with Mahomes.

I wasn't familiar with Lance but damn - in 2019 the kid threw for 28 TDs vs 0 INTs while running for 1100 yards and 14 touchdowns. FCS competition, but FCS teammates too.

I like Field, but I LOVE Lance and his upside. Cam will gladly teach him (snark aside), and have him prepared when it’s his time to take over.

Obviously comparisons are just that, but he reminds me of a cross between Josh Allen and Mahomes. He can’t consistently just flick his wrist and hit guys in stride 50 yards down the field yet, but he’s more advanced than Allen was when he got to the league.

To be fair, he’s only 20. He’ll be unreal at 23/24, just needs time and fanbase patience [guessing he looks ugly the first pre season]

Oh yeah I’m not worried about it being an issue for him, I’d cry tears of joy if we get him. This is partially because I’ve been on the draft Lance train for a year or so, but I like his upside more than anyone else in the draft.

Real talk: I’m more interested in the Patriots off season than this Celtics season right now. Wyc needs to realize he had a golden opportunity to seize market share via all other Boston teams becoming middling and he’s truly blowing it right now.

This off-season has a lot of fun potential for the Patriots. They have tons of money, have a few guys that other teams very much want to trade for, and could actually move up in the draft.

Cam spoke highly of the culture. The culture took a big PR hit cuz of the **** shows in Houston and Det.

Cam sucks, but what is the alternative? I wanted Stafford hard but apparently he didn't want to go to New England and/or Belichick didn't want to meet the asking price. I don't see how you can have a problem with Newton for pennies and to see what develops with a young QB on the trade market or one of the guys in the draft. I trust Belichick to identify QB talent. I'm not gonna pretend like I can tell who of Fields/Lance/Jones is teh guy to target or just wait for a later guy or whatever. I think Belichick would nail it if he took a QB in the first this year.

They will grind games out again, the OL looks fantastic, and hopefully we see some development with the two young tight ends. Hightower is back, Chung back, they are loaded with capspace to make some moves. I thought this team got **** by COVID more than nearly every other team (opt-outs, missed practices).
