I hope that when Romeo returns, we have enough depth to just send him to the G-League and let him get reps to reestablish his scoring prowess.

With Gordon gone and Semij next to useless we suddenly lack depth at the wing position.so Romeo being out really hurts . Danny is going to have to find a small forward . Yes, Nesmith will get minutes at the 2 and 3 but he is a rookie

Celtic Health Thread: Ongoing

Post#1323 » by Jammer » Mon Nov 30, 2020 2:41 am

I think that it's worth having a running health thread. There are a number of players who had issues this summer, and when you play short-handed, you force the remaining players to play more minutes than might be good for them. As beneficial as it is for players like Teague and Pritchard to get minutes if Kemba is out, or Tristan Thompson and Timelord to get minutes if Theis is on a reduced minutes program, there is no real depth at wing besides Aaron Nesmith if Romeo Langford AND Javonte Green are impacted. Green is supposed to be back, though. It might be worthwhile to see what is actually known, versus speculation.

I am sure that there are more knowledgeable fans that I, so perhaps some who have seen tidbits have some updates.

The Status of Kemba Walker's knee is ???

The Status of Romeo Langford's recovery from right wrist surgery on approximately September 22. That is in addition to the right abductor strain incurred in the first 81 seconds of Game 2 Against Miami in the playoffs, which would normally take 4 to 6 weeks to heal, but is a much shorter healing curve than right wrist surgery. This is serious, because it means that the Celtics could be short handed at wing for a while.

The Status of Daniel Theis' recovery from left knee surgery on October 20 to remove a loose body. Although this surgery was not expected to impact the start of training camp, this is the same knee that Theis had surgery on in 2018 for a meniscus tear.

The status of Javonte Green's recovery from right knee surgery to repair a relatively minor meniscus tear on August 25. Initial recovery was estimated at 2 to 3 weeks.

Personally I would be going very easy on these guys in camp.

For Langford he gets his cast of Dec 8th, but I'm not sure how long the rehab is for that. I'd think he's back early Jan. Theis should be fine, but I'd imagine he'll only play 25 mpg at most this year. He was only at 28 mpg post all star break last year so it might more like 20 mpg with Thompson here now.

No Kemba (knee) until probably January. No Langford (wrist) until probably February. Thompson (hamstring) limited during 1st week of camp.

Where's Terry Rozier when you need him?

This franchise is damn cursed. Kemba and Hayward were iron men prior to coming to Boston.

Is the injection to get healing boosted or a concern of a possible osteoarthritis issue?

Osteoarthritis.

It's just **** hysterical that every single max FA we sign here has health issues, even Horford with his knee tendinitis.

Outside of Tatum and Brown, this franchise has been cursed since 2017 in so many ways

We should trade for the most injury prone stars (aka Blake) and it’ll probably be the ultimate reverse jinx

No expert by any means but knee followed by injection does not sound great.

Said last season that Smart will be our Draymond filling in for Kemba when he misses the start of the season. Were gonna start the year off on a tear and Smart wont give up the starting PG role.

Hopefully Nesmith can handle shooting 6+ 3’s a game. Need a spacer in our lineup.

This is a really bad look for Kemba.
He's had a lot of time to heal that knee. It's Chronic at this point.
Might be time for him to hang it up.

Kemba is on borrowed time. Live him. Just needs to get healthy for this year. I dont see him playing past his contract. Going to hurt too much.

It’s just something that has to be managed. I am sure he will do all the recovery and rehab necessary.
