Something I'm only realizing now after tweeting at Ainge and Zarren daily for two straight weeks to sign Smart already... It doesn't have any effect whatsoever.

IT didn't cost Boston anything he transformed this team from a tankfest into a contender, even if a somewhat fake one.
Don't act like he was all alone on it. Avery and Jae were great this season, both with better % than IT.
He recruited Horford and Haywood here as FA's.
I bet Danny Ainge and Brad Stevens help him a lot...
Don't misrepresent what that guy did for this franchise.
One great season. Time to move on.

Pay the Cobra, look how much $$ KO made in free agency,. what a joke. Marcus is well worth it and hhis effort is Draymond Green like. You want banner 18, you need some grit and ba!!$. Nobody runs the pick and roll better, just ask Big Al. His defense is fierce and his contributions don't always show on the stat sheets....Pay da man!

Yup that was the caveat. IF. IF. IF. The caveat. IT can come back to 75% of his former self he's a much better player.
75%?????? Nope, he’d have to be at 100% to be better than Smart. He’s light years ahead of him offensively when healthy and he’s light years behind him defensively even when he’s 100% healthy. If he’s even a little slower or can’t move as well then he loses whatever edge he had offensively and simply becomes another guy trying to score who can’t guard anyone on the floor and is a liability.Big Joke Line wrote:f you can pour in 30 a night that makes up for a lot of mini-me. Yup, every single time based on who they are TODAY. IT is not the same player at all and to prove my point I’d have Smart guard him for a while to show you how he’d shut him out completely.
Maybe I'm dreaming he can come back to 75%. Logic says no. But dont forget IT is just as gritty as Smart, albeit in a different way. 75% of a 30pptpg scorer is still damn good. I dont hate Smart at all I just think he's way overrated here and I think the contract or perhaps lack of will reflect that.
Hey Man, nice shot!

This. And people claiming he should be paid more than he's worth because other scrubs scrubbed scrub organizations for terrible deals haven't paid attention to how the C's do business now. $6-8 mil tops or they let him walk.

Ainge wont give him that, though.

Disagree completely. 75% of IT is a 6th man on a Euro league team. 75% of IT doesn’t get you 23 point a game. It gets you a guy chucking up shots that have little chance of going in because he’s 5’ 8” in a league where everyone else is a foot taller. He relied on his speed and quickness to get his shots off. He can’t do that anymore which means he has very little value. He’s an offensive only player that can’t produce offense.

I get that. But people have been betting on that his whole career and he always came through the doubters. I get that his main weapon may be gone. If it is he's totally done. Not 75%. 100% done. Nate Robinson 2.0. I was more referring to 75% as a role or his output. If his speed and hops are gone so is he. If they're still a weapon he might be. Also, scroll back, I don't want him on the C's at all.

Smart is a team player, IT is not.
We have enough scorers with Kyrie, Hayward, Jaylen, Tatum and Morris. We need passers. The best offensive Smart's skill, is the pass.
IT right now, is just another man, not even close to his great season. All the dramas with the Brink trucks, Cleveland, video tribute, Lakers... it shows how big IT's ego affect his free agency.
Amm, Smart is not a team player. A guy who shoots 36% from the field and jacks up 10 shots a game is far from a team player. IT shot over 45% from the field for us. Yes Smart is a greater defender(not even a question), but when healthy him and IT are not in the same universe on offense. IT is a menace on offense.
Come on. Smart is not a selfish player. The guy is a warrior, throwing his body to every loose ball and taking charges against guys bigger than him. He takes so stupid shots, I'm with you on it. But overall, this guy is all about TEAM.
And while IT was a better offensive player, and was also a terrible defender who cost us a lot because of teams abusing him and his tiny size.
Smart is just a Duck that wants to be a Swan, he has to acknowledge he is a Duck and work to be the MVDuck. Once he does that he can achieve Green’s type result. To be fair at one point of the season his game improved a lot last year.

Leader, does it for the team, warrior, huge heart. Honestly that's the exact things that were said about Antoine Walker. It's the same arguments and in fact they both grace the NBA's list of biggest chuckers in a single season. Smart #1, Walker #2. Some people believe what they've seen is good, others believe chucking hurts the team and they play the game the wrong way.
Shrug.

This is kinda true, but all I can say is that I couldn't stand Antoine and celebrated when he was traded. Whereas if we moved Marcus for Kawhi, I would still miss him...at least for an hour or two.
In terms of intangible's Marcus is almost half Antoine, half Bill Russell. It's so bizarre.

I'm the opposite, I viewed Walker as the clear leader of the team finally starting to reap the reward of the bad times and he with Pierce brought us to the ECF which at the time seemed like about as good as we could expect haha.
I was very sad when we traded Walker, more sad when I saw Raef's contract, and really sad when I had to listen to Tommy hype up Jiri **** Welsch for years with his bull ****. I also kind of though Tony Delk was solid... I just really thought we got about as little value as we could for a 27 year old all-star haha.
If we traded Smart for Kawhi I wouldn't blink an eye haha.
I guess that's how times change a fan huh?

Toine was a fantastic player, my favorite Celtic in years but he sadly developed very bad habits.

Unclear exactly how Dwight’s buyout worked, but the Nets have anywhere from 8 to 11 million in room.
