KP to ORL for WCJ and ATL taking Isaac+
Hauser to SAC or ATL for 2nds
Resign Kornet and 2 cheap mins and that pretty much does it.

Simons expires as WCJ extension kicks in for 26-27.

The theory is that Milwaukee wants Jrue and will take Jerami Grant to get two theoretically productive players for injured Dame.
And that in 60 days or when combining salaries window reopens Portland will trade Jrue ($32) and Jerami ($34) for Dame who only has two years ($59, $63) rather than Grant and Jrue who each have three years. lol ...

That's actually not bad. Probably the best the Bucks could do for next year too.

I don't like the idea of trading KP to a potential playoff opponent.

Beggars and choosers and such. It's only one year with Tatum rusty at best. Then KP resigns here for MLE, lol.

Remember when Ben Simmons was favourite to go to Boston earlier this season after being cut despite it being financially impossible under the CBA?

Good trade by Brad.

Expiring contract and a pretty good player. I am not a huge Simons fan but I think he can be a better player in our environment.

There was an article in the athletic begining of the year with him and his struggles due to a losing situation...

https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6034414/2025/01/03/anfernee-simons-trail-blazers-chauncey-billups-nba/

In his seventh NBA season, Anfernee Simons says he is engaged in the fight of his career as he navigates more massive losses amid the ever-changing landscape of the Portland Trail Blazers.

“I’m not going to lie, this is probably the hardest mental battle I’ve had in my career, and that’s saying a lot, because I went through some s— earlier in my career,” Simons told The Athletic.

...

The Trail Blazers’ heavy losses on the court and sweeping changes throughout a once-proud organization are starting to wear on the 25-year-old guard. He wants to be a good soldier. He wants to remain positive. And he wants to be a good example for the rest of the young roster. But he admits his struggle is getting harder to hide.

“It’s been hard as hell,” Simons said. “I be having my bad days. I’m like anybody else. I call them my ‘human days,’ when I let things get to me a little bit. Obviously, it has had an effect on my game. That’s what I’m trying to get out of.”

...

He says he would rather be part of the solution, and he knows that one way for Portland to win more is for him to play better. So, he has tried to show up with a good attitude and continue to work on his game. And, even though he expected more losses this season with such a young roster, he said, “You can be fully prepared for it, but once you are actually in it, it’s different.”

“Obviously, I want things to be better,” Simons said. “But you can’t control some of that stuff. I have to come in and be professional and be myself every day. This can be a tough situation if you let it be a tough situation. Obviously, not winning as much as you would like the last couple of years, it can get on you mentally.”

I would not be shocked if he doesn't play and score as much as we think or hope

We only need 16 or 17 points a game from him.

With no JT, that might go up to 18 a game.

Scoring has never been a problem for that kid.

I like the move. What it does is it gives us a ton of flexibility going from Jrue who only had a few suitors to Simons who could be used in a variety of ways.

I’m not his biggest fan but he might actually be a good fit with this team so my guess is we start the season with him on the roster and see how he fits/plays. You can always trade him at the deadline if he doesn’t play well or if he does and gets a huge offer.

Always going to be thankful for Jrue. Huge part of our title run last year. But a deep playoff run plus the olympics was too much basketball for him at that age and that affected his health this season. I suspect he’ll be much better next year after a good amount of rest and recovery.

My final thought is I can’t shake the feeling that we will make a massive trade at some point that includes either Brown or White.

We have so many options, its going to be a wild offseason/season

This only saves around 5 million. We still need to unload 18 million without taking on any salary AND we don't have horford or Luke signed.

The roster is going to be gutted.

For 165bows.

KP to MEM
Clarke to BOS
KCP to BKN
MEM sends pick(s) to BKN, maybe we add a 2nd.

We should be able to duck the 2nd apron (with Hauser for $0) and resign Luke. Al too if they both take minimums.

I'd rather keep Simons around this year and see what he does. he's still got growth potential, and shotmaking is a rare quality at the nba level. tbh i didn't think there was any way we could get someone as valuable as simons (even tho he has serious flaws) in exchange for jrue's dumpster fire deal.

still thinking it will be a white or JB trade eventually that gets us under the apron. too much value coming back for brad to turn down. alternatively it could be something like KP with PP added so that we can get some value back. brad still needs a couple more rabbits out of his hat.

No separate thread for a starter being traded? You guys are losing your edge.

Simons is expiring isn’t he? This is about getting out of Holidays extra years.

And Simons is an intriguing pick up. Definitely talented and worth seeing what he looks like with the team.

Getting Simmons expiring gives Brad easy parth to trade him again his 27 mill, for 2 players on smaller contracts(lets say 2 x 11milion) . He can save 5 milliom in that kind of deal, than he can send one of the contracts into someone MLE... And you save another 11mill.

So you are left with 1 player with around 11 mill million contract and you saved 21million.

Jru 32mill vs player? 11 million

And the bloodbath starts.

But it’s only right that we get punished by the CBA giving both of our drafted, All-NBA players the maximum amount of money as defined by…… the CBA?

Seriously, f this thing.

I actually really like Simons, and impressed Brad pulled it off but not overly confident he’s staying.

If we lose D White in this nonsense I may lose interest entirely.

KP is going out, according to reports.

Sam might also be dealt.

So it's going to be one hell of a core-4 with JT, JB, White, and Simons.

Just need a reliable Center to go along with Luke and Queta.
