Asik has been moody – even insubordinate – over the Rockets' failure to trade him, and his reaction to Houston letting its self-imposed deadline pass without a trade could have an impact within the locker room.

Some other report said he left practice without talking to reporters today.

And everybody expected Hump to be a bad character and he's not.
And everybody expected Craw to be a ballhog and he's not.
And everybody expected Sheed and Marbury and Nate and all the other "headcases" we brought in to ruin chemistry and none of them did.

My obvious point is that don't paint a guy as a bad guy because of one thing that's going on in one situation. Some reports say Morey told him to his face that he wouldn't sign a starting C over him. He'd welcome a trade to the Celtics, and you can't say that about every player in the league.

Ray Allen was the problem hahah. Who would have thought.

I would say that at various points Sheed, Marbury, and Nate all negatively impacted the chemistry of the team, but that isn't really the topic of conversation here. If I'm Houston I am thinking champiponship, which means I am expecting to see LeBron James in the finals. If I have that roster and am looking at facing LeBron James, I want Brandon Bass on my team. That's why I think at the end of the day this gets done. A pouty Asik does nothing for their championship aspirations.

I've said it before and I know sully agrees- for whatever reason I'm one hundred percent on Asik's side- Morey has given Asik a huge hit in terms of earning his next contract- which will be at the prime of his career. Then again, it was the Rockets who gave big money to him when he'd only shown flashes as a back up.. Another GM might do the same, it's just much less likely.

That's another reason I want him. Not only can he play, D, rebound, etc. The guy will be coming with a chip on his shoulder to shove it up the arse of Morey and is going to ball out for that next contract. Still only 27 to boot.

From Mark Murphy of the Boston Herald:

Mark Murphy via Twitter wrote:Team source stressed that Asik talk, as old as it was, was only issue on team's radar. No other talks in progress.

Trades still go down even when they say talks are dead. I'm sure Danny will be talking to Houston tomorrow trying to sort this out by end of day Friday.

My gut feeling is that Houston & Morey got the days screwed up and will ultimately be calling Ainge tomorrow since the deadline is then, instead of today like they originally thought. They're just holding out, posturing....

Ainge isn't calling anyone. He's offered what he thought was right. He's not moving and doesn't have to at this point. Its all in Houston's hands. They sit and pay Asik to rot on their bench or they make a move to help their team going forward.

Total D-bag. I hope other NBA players take note; assuming this is just a small taste of the full Morey experience, I fully get Asik's behavior of late.

Morey is a douche, just after he signed Howard he called the Mavs to see if they wanted to trade Dirk.

He did the same thing for five players on his roster: Howard, Harden, Lin, Asik and Parsons. I'm not sure how that makes him a tool. But hey, it's Bash Daryl Morey Day here on the forum, isn't it?

Morey can't keep Asik without completely destroying any relationship with Arn Tellem. The Rockets aren't gonna have ANY breathing room in negotiations with Tellem's clients down the road.

Morey went from sly pokerface to complete buffoon wicked fast.

I think Morey is a pretty good GM, you're all piling on him because you wanted the trade to go through.

He did it for other players having All Star type years.... I think if you can't read between the lines on this one, then you and Sheldon both need a class in identifying sarcasm.
