Hey, we should have tanked harder when we had the chance, but here we are. Those Nets picks are gold, and we really do have a ton decent assets to flood people with in trade. We are also in a decent situation of being able to remain patient. We can literally just draft the Nets picks and build a pretty good team that way. This is a luxury that the Thunder absolutely does not have right now. They NEED to trade Westbrook before the start of camp, and he basically has a de facto no-trade clause by virtue of being able to tell prospective teams not to bother because he won't resign with them. This is a game of chicken where Presti has very little leverage.

I think the right play for Ainge is to drive a very hard bargain with the BKN picks.

Reason being, we can stand pat and just draft and that could be a legit way for us to continue building. All the pressure is on OKC to make a move; in other words if this was chess, we'd have OKC in check. Let's let them squirm, then pickup Westbrook on the cheap, or just not pick him up at all.

Agree with both statements. I'm happy to stand pat and build with these BKN picks which are gold. IMO Presti has no choice but to trade RW now instead of waiting till the deadline to "see how it plays out". That will be a very big mistake if he goes that route. Blake is a different situation but i'm not desperate to trade for him just because. Wait it out and strike when the irons hot.

You already nailed it when you mentioned Kevin Love. If Cleveland offers Love and I think they will, than Ainge has to offer Brown and a Nets pick at minimum to trump it. Westbrook gives Cleveland a real chance to compete with Golden State and Danny can't trump that without giving Presti Brown and a Nets pick. Presti may not have a lot of leverage but he'll have leverage over Danny if Love is on the table.

If I'm presti. I want to go with the youth movement instead of Love whose in his prime and would be super unhappy on a losing team once again. OKC essentially has a rookie coach one year removed. Let's say Love was offered. I still think Presti prefers the draft pick. JMO

Unfortunately I think we have lost smitty's tidbits moving forward, it's a shame I really enjoyed his input. Outside of how he was treated here, the fact lifshatz and O'Connor starting putting this stuff out elsewhere will stop him from giving as much inside info. I hope I'm wrong but I'm sure eventually it could cost him sources.
