My first guess would be Walton. This assumes the NCAA was recording blocks and steals that far back. But I'm pretty sure the NBA was recording blocks late in Russell's career, so I'll guess that's not an issue..

Tiny Archibald?

Edit: Looking it up, that seems thoroughly wrong.

Which Celtics head coaches previously played for the team?

Russell (player-coach), Heinsohn, Sanders ?, Cowens (player-coach), K.C. Jones, Ford, Carr -- that's all I can think of.

That's my list.

Sanders took over briefly for Heinsohn. I think Cowens took over briefly for him.

And I can't remember if Gerald Green won the dunk contest before or after the Garnett trade.

Good job. I don't have any other examples in mind.

After consulting the Google, Larry actually won three in a row!

Pistol Pete?

He didn't have a lot of team success.

Indeed, I just looked it up, and he never even played in the NCAA tournament.

Is the answer Tiny? I only just saw someone had already posted that and seemed to be indicating that was the correct answer.

Tiny was my first guess, or second after Bob McAdoo, but he never played in the ABA and he went to UTEP, which I doubt won a championship. So not even close.

So far I've failed to identify many Celtics who even played in the ABA, let alone won championships there.

Hay, guys.
Sorry, i'm from Croatia...we have 6 hour time diference.
Pistol Pete won nothing...no NCAA, no NBA no ABA ring
Tiny won only with C's 1981
Walton won 2 NCAA titles with UCLA, 2 NBA titles (POR&BOS) but didn't play in the ABA...

So...nobody answer my question correctly...
There's only one statistics that's important: who won...Bill Russell

My name is Davor. I'm from Croatia, land of hopefully next Celtic great Mario Hezonja.
Celtics fan from 1986., activ on celticsblog...here i was just reading...
I'm former journalist in croatia basketball magazine and basketball historyan...
I saw that a lot of you guys think that the most future NBA head coaches on same Celtics team was 6.
Its wrong. The correct answer is 7.
1984/85 Celtics: Danny Ainge, Larry Bird, Quinn Bucknerr, Rick Carlisle, ML Carr, Dennis Johnson and Kevin McHale
Numerous Celtics team had a 6 head coaches. But two more had a 6,5 :)
1960/61 Celtics: Bob Cousy, Tom Heinsohn, KC Jones, Bill Russell, Tom Sanders, Bill Sharman + Frank Ramsey (ABA coach, finals in 1971.)
1961/62 Celtics:- replace retired Bill Sharman with Carl Braun...so these two teams had a 6 NBA and a ABA head coach.
Hello to all Celtics fans around the World.

Well done, Sir! Your historical knowledge is magnificent!

I quite forgot about Quinn Buckner. Carl Braun -- who I'll admit to basically never having heard of before -- is however excluded on the slimmest of technicalities: I specified "future" head coaches. :) And you actually missed one of my groups of 6, namely the one in which M. L. Carr -- and Quinn Buckner :) -- were replaced by Sam Vincent.

There's one guy, however, who even you seem to be forgetting -- Sam Vincent. :)

Hay...
Yes you are right...Carl Braun was player-coach with Knicks before he retired with C's. He was 5-time all-star and 2-time NBA second team. Classic Red Auerbach late career pickup like Andy Phillip, Arnie Risen, Clyde Lovellette, Willie Naulls, Wayne Embry...
I didn't forgot Sam Vincent...i know there is alot of Celtics teams with 6 head coaches. I just single out the only team with 7, and two teams (one if you exclude Braun) with 7 coaches, but 6 NBA and 1 ABA.

I see you too know alot about history...i expect an answer on my question which former Celtics is onyl player with NCAA, NBA and ABA ring?

Greetings from Croatia

Sorry, I had to cheat and use Google to answer your question but it would appear to be Tom Thacker (who I had never heard of) who won two NCAA titles with Cincinatti, an NBA title with the Celtics in '68 and an ABA title with the Pacers in '71.

Since we've done the coaches, let's switch to executives:

Which former Celtic players have been NBA Executive of the Year? There's one on the list I wouldn't have thought of, but Davor probably will ...

Speaking of executives, Davor, my favorite basketball trivia question, and one that I've already asked in this forum a couple of times, is:

Which NBA executive renounced himself as a free agent?

The answer is NOT a Celtic.

Well Danny won it 2008 didn't he? And I seem to recall Larry won it with the Pacers. I think that made him the only guy who had won League MVP, Coach of the Year and Executive of the Year. Plus he was Rookie of the Year and Finals MVP a couple of times. Perhaps that should have been a trivia question.

Does the award go all the way back? Maybe Red got one too? Did McHale get one when Minnesota were good?

To be honest I can't think of any other Celtics players who were even Executive, let alone who would have won the award.

While we're thinking about the previous question, here's another:
When the Celtics became the first NBA team to start an entirely black team, who were the players?
