Smh.. I don't get why people keep saying this. In my opinion he has been awesome as a Sixer. Never tries to do to much. If needed he'll be alpha, take a ball and win us a game, but if not - he'll just work his ass off on both sides of the flour without demanding a ball. I keep seeing this takes (on our board too to be fair) and I honestly don't get it.
Because everywhere he's gone he's been an a-hole off the court. Even just during that film session, where he screamed at the coaches and stuff.
I think getting Harris was an insurance policy in case Butler leaves, since paying all 4 guys will basically cause an astronomical tax bill and you won't have anything to build a team around those 4 besides minimums and the mid-level exception.
Agreed, Butler is not a guarantee after this year. We got some young players who will be rotational pieces and a few players in Europe. Also, still got plenty of draft picks. Sixers are set up nicely regardless, here. Tobias is the keeper for sure. Butler is icing on the cake if he stays.
I think Harris will stay with the 76ers. I think it is almost a lock. As for Butler, him returning seems to be more 50/50 and the rest of this year could do a lot to determine that.

Agreed. Like someone diagramed the whole financial situation keeping the four pretty well:
$100+ million in the luxury tax is insanity. Almost doesn't seem feasible.

Morris is right to an extent, we need to see the team come together like last year's team. Everyone was fired up for one another and fed off of it. We NEED to get back the grit and grind, make teams fear us again! Let's go!! I still have faith we're making the finals this year.
Getting healthy would be a lovely start, hopefully all-star break will cure that.

I think Jimmy gets a little less than the 35 million (on a 5 yr deal) because of his age as by year 4 or 5 he's not worth that. I 'd do 30M at most for him. Also, don't wanna pay him much more than Embiid or Simmons. Tobias is a close call too as this is his 1st year that he's playing all star caliber ball. Maybe he gets the full max, but certainly not a shoo in. If we can get the two players for 60-65M total (for 1st year of deal) then it could happen easily, as salary cap will go up incrementally to fit contract fine under the luxury tax. Still got the rest of the year and playoffs to evaluate here. For me to be all in on that they have to reach the finals & play well.

Philly is better on paper. Jimmy just has to not be a jerk and he may just see an NBA finals. It’s possible. But just like Kyrie, I wouldn’t bet on it.

NBA news flash. there will not be too many teams lining up to give Jimmy the full supermax.
same with HArris.

Two things.
1. Tobias is a nice player and I like him as much as anybody... But do you really wanna be paying him the max? I just don't see how he exceeds the value of his contract, and you kinda need that for a contract to be considered a win.
2. A ton of teams have cap room this off season. I'd say it's wishful thinking to suggest you can get Jimmy or Tobias for less than the max when other teams are absolutely going to offer it to them.

Butler and Harris will likely get max offers from the Nets. They might get one of them.
The Clippers could offer Jimmy too, if they strike out on KD.

Should be a solid 20 point loss.
20 points? Celtics own that ass. Sixers might win but not by 20

Rumor has it Clips don't like Butler at all.
The logo isn't maxing a fake star, it's why he traded Blake.

I dunno, you might be able to get him for less, I mean he has been kind of a headcase so I doubt many teams out there will be throwing huge money at him and Philly gives him by far the best opportunity to WIN.
Good assessment:

**** day in Philly. Sleet all morning followed by rain all day. Hopefully the game is fun because it's going to suck getting to the Wells Fargo and back.

I think the Philly board insider mentioned something similar to that.

It's no real big secret, but I don't think he'll do the QO or anything most likely he re-signs for the max then come the 2nd last year of his contract the rumblings to LA will start.

Would be nice if we got an all star game from Hayward tonight. Would love to see all the hype around Philly get busted up by a big time Hayward game and a Celtics win.

Dang, to be fair if he doesn't do the QO, LeBron will be gray and old in LA at that point.
What a shame though, Simmons will just have to be lit up by Anthony Davis 4 times a year for the C's for the next few if he doesn't leave
