I don’t see how that’s close to appealing for Ingram unless they secretly hate him.
Agree, but.. they could have reservations about his health, his fit with Zion, not wanting to give him a max - Brooklyn let DAR go - they might want to sign someone else (Hayward?) over the summer..
If there are any legs to the rumor, if you turned Langford and Rob Willians and picks into Ingram and then traded Hayward for Capela, Drummond or Myles Turner..

Does Rob Williams even exist? Maybe Ainge is secretly trying to trade his contract before anybody realizes that Timelord is visiting 1600’s Italy

Rumor has it he went back to the 60’s to learn from Bill Russell. Hope he’s back soon.

KAT is signed for five seasons, I can’t see him going anywhere. It’s like when people were speculating AD being traded like three years too early lol.
Wouldn’t surprise me if Ainge was trying to steal someone offering young players (Langford, G Williams, R Williams) and multiple (3-4) first round picks. Doubt it would be Ingram
Exactly what he should be doing imo. Ingram, health dependent. WCJ. Bagley? People on that level would be a great get. Obviously longshots, but I love the idea he could be looking at doing something like this.

I would give up all three picks this year and maybe a future protected pick, and matching outgoing salary in a heart beat. (Poirier, Semi and Edwards works) However, if this was to go down, Hayward is traded right afterward.

Re: Trade Thread, Part 3: The Fun Continues
I've been actively looking at names and working the trade machines. Names like Bogdan, Alex burks, roco, bertrans, adams, ish smith, only one of those names moves the needle imo, adams but including smart for any of those mentioned including adams I hang up the phone. Going to be a long next 9 days. I'd want at least a 1st lottery pick included to even listen about smart. I anticipate yet again we stand pat. For trader Danny he ain't trading major stuff since 15.

I like the idea of getting Ingram .... but do we need a 185 lb sf when we are already so undersized? I guess if we upgrade Green and Langford to Ingram its worth it and we would have his Bird rights as a hedge against Hayward opting out. If 3 isn’t better than 2 .... maybe the answer is to have 4.

What does Covington/Kanter for Capela do for Houston? Does it improve their defense? Their rebounding?
It probably does improve their scoring, actually.
if Houston wins it'll be because their offense is unstoppable. They aren't relying on Defense winning them a title. Convington/Tucker guarding on the wing would likely make them a better defensive team believe it or not. Kanter as a starter will rebound equally as good as Capela...he's better offensively over Capela. Capela is the better shot blocker/interior defender....
I think they'd be hoping that Theis' solid defense, rebounding and toughness, combined with his ability to stretch the floor as a 4/5, would open up the floor for their superstar(s?) significantly. And having Covington to guard big wings and play off-ball would help them, too.
Kanter is a different proposition, he would just give them a post-up look they don't have right now.
Trying to think of another example where a contending team has traded away as talented a young player as Capela in order to improve chemistry/fit..
The players weren't as young then, but Red traded Ainge and Ainge traded Walker. And for a while in the 1990s a huge fraction of high lottery picks got traded early (including Billups and Mercer).

Deveney isn't that reliable. He's not Woj.
I don't see how Ingram brings a championship, even if he costs only picks. For starters, he's clueless on defense. He's also due for a big raise the year before they have to pay Tatum.

Re: Trade Thread, Part 3: The Fun Continues
Well, Ingram at the start of the season was exactly the stats but the team was worse with him on the court guy. it seems it's all coming together now. Could be long term answer at PF. This is exaclty what danny should do. We can't add salary without trading for a guy on rookie contract. He's shown to try before. He tried for D Booker before he was the "star" he is now. Had multple reports on that one a few yards back.
But...... It's good, but this rumor has no legs. It's what he should be doing, maybe is doing, but that guy has no clue.
Ingram for Langford, Timelord (or Grant) semi. Griz pick, Bucks pick, Celtics pick, celtics pick in 2022 unprotected,
We get another max slot guy on max contract. Fits our timeline better. They get 2 rookie contract guys who fit better with Zion and 4 first round picks. That's a hall for a throw in the the AD trade to go along with the picks from lakers.
The young picks can grow with Zion and they don't have to max a young guy yet.
I know, that's paper thin, and a lot to give up for a guy I personally hated the first month of the season. He could be a small ball 5, and starting 4.

Re: Trade Thread, Part 3: The Fun Continues
It’s interesting to think about. Imagine Edwards/Langford/Rob Williams/BOS 20, MIL 20, BOS 22 1sts , trade Hayward for Drummond, you have
Kemba/Smart/Wanamaker/Waters
Jaylen/(Smart)
Ingram/Ojeleye/Javonte Green
Tatum/Theis/Grant Williams
Drummond/Kanter/Poirier/Tacko
Re-up Ingram and Drummond, try to draft a point guard or combo guard with the MEM pick.. you’ve built a young “big three” in Brown/Ingram/Tatum, you have young vets in Smart, Theis, Wanamaker, Ojeleye, Kanter and Drummond (all still improving), a young JV squad of Waters, Green, Tacko and Grant, plus best case someone like Cole Anthony or Theo Mannion in the late lottery, and Kemba as the veteran leader.
Or swap out a couple of the late rotation guys (Kanter, Wanamaker, etc.) for veteran free agents..
It’s actually a smart idea, although it’s made up and NOP wouldn’t likely move Ingram. There’s a market for Hayward that can get you a big, so take advantage of Rob Williams’ increased value and your extra chips to cash in on a young wing and then trade Hayward for the big you’re waiting for Williams to become. You get younger, you clean up and stack the roster at the same time..
