The following UFAs appear to be simply sitting at home:

Justin Patton, 7-0, 23 years old, just waived
Tyler Zeller. 30 years old
Marcin Gortat 35 years old
Michael Beasley 31 years old
Ryan Anderson Still only 31 years old
Corey Brewer 33 years old
Darren Collison umored headed to the Lakers
Tyreke Evans 30 years old
Jeff Green 33 years old

I'm not advocating that the Celtics pick up any UFA, but if any of the guys above are still in shape, they are as good as any of the buyout candidates we've been discussing

Dang I had no idea Reke Evans was outta the league! Bring him in for a workout!! He could be real nice for the bench. I wasvthinking about him the other day and figured he was playing out West somewhere. He's at least worth a look.

Mook-light Mike Beasley could also help out with shooting. His attitude and work ethic kinda suck but he can roll outta bed and go for 15-2o

Gortat is also certainly worth a look...

Isn't Tyreke Evans still suspended?

Tyreke Evans is the last person you want if you want to keep the team culture.

I think it'd be Javonte, Wanamaker or Poirier out (he had teammates sign his jersey? Was there almost a trade?).. but right now we're probably betting on continuity, better luck with health, and continued internal improvement..

I know our title chances still lie with Tatum's continued ascendance, health, cohesion among our key guys, and a bit of luck, but we could use more veteran presence on that bench. I mean right now, I'd trust Marvin Williams in a playoff game over guys like Semi, Romeo, and Grant.

But if we're not winning it all this year (we are though), it would still be great to give the young guys playoff experience the Jays got in their rookie/soph years.

Think that’s clearly the way it’s heading right now. You’re hopefully looking at Romeo and, well Grant is already a firm part of the rotation next season. Need to get those two and Timelord some burn in the postseason

Cassell, Finley, Murphy, Marbury were bad and I am sure I am missing a few more guys as well.

Marbury would likely have been on the team the following year if not for his video, and Cassell knocked down some needed hoops in the playoffs, but a buyout has to be someone who provides something meaningful in the playoffs.
Frankly with teams like Miami and the Lakers losing out on trades, it feels like the less good buyout players available, the better for the Celtics.

William's late in his career chasing a ring. Can't really blame him. I'm not sure where his minutes would have come from in Boston.

very premature.

He will probably top out as a top 8 or 9 player on a championship team imo. He is out of position alot.

I think your statement is pretty premature too ;-)

Kid’s showing great defense & offense compared to his career NBA minutes.

Marvin Williams will not get minutes in Milwaukee...With Giannis and Zaza at pf there are only a few minutes left at sf. He would play more in Boston, bad decision imo.

The guy wants to ring chase obviously. Most buyouts would want to go to the clips or bucks bandwagon. Screw them!

Not that excited about any of the buyout candidates. We’ll be playing an eight man rotation in the playoffs, and right now that looks like

Bigs - Theis
Kanter
Swings - Tatum
Brown
Haywood
Ball handlers - Kamba
Smart
Wanamaker

Brad is the weakest link, but there don’t seem to be any backup points in the buyout market who have played in our system.

Tristan would be a Belechician move since he has tortured us for the last decade. That said, would his stats be that much of an improvement over Kanter?

Turner is the most interesting since he did an excellent job of initiating the offense when he was here. If he still has skills, he would be an upgrade over Wanamaker and could probably get about 15 minutes a night.

IT would not get rotation minutes under any circumstances. However, he could be a “break glass in case of emergency” type player. He would be the guy you bring in when nobody can make a shot and you’re hoping for instant offense.

I have never been that impressed with Semi, but don’t think the players agree with me. He seems to be the spiritual leader of the team and may be a huge key to our locker room culture. I guess the man to go would be Green. I’d hate to give up on him, but he’d be the one who would have to go.

Absent injuries, our 8 man rotation is set. I’m fine with giving the other spot minutes to the rookies to help in their NBA development.
