If the article on realgm is true, Chicago already offered Wendell carter and 4 for 2. That offer, IMO, is a huge overpay to move up 2 spots in a weak draft and I wouldn’t try to match. Of the top tier of prospects in this draft none are even sure fire all stars.

That isn't the narrative. They acquired wiggins known they had a top 4 pick coming in so they could pair his contract with the pick to get a better player.
Not that they're using the pick to get out of the player.
They ain't moving it for Hayward. Very poor value. I don't like Wiggins but not that much.
You're not following the conversation very well.
I get the logic. We’ve heard rumors about GS offering that package for Beal and others. I just don’t think Gordon is a player you Target with that package.

It makes some sense that Warriors would want Smart over Hayward. He makes $20M less. Draymond-Smart on defense would be nasty too. It's like getting a much younger Iggy. 5th guy HAS to be a shooter.

One would think that it would be a sign and trade for less per year than what Hayward is making now

Re: Trade Thread, Part 4: The Hayward Game
I think this all comes down to helping Gordon get to where he wants to play, if that’s not Boston. I wouldn’t expect much in return for any Gordon trade.
I also don’t think Boston has the pieces to move Up that drastic in the draft. The best we will see is Danny targeting a player in the 8-12 range, and being aggressive to get him... kinda like the Herro situation last year.

Thats nice but I'm guessing that the draft pick is meaningless to GS. They are absolutely in win now mode again and would prefer top level players and not a move down two spaces

From our man Supes:
Update:
He said the Boston beat is speaking nonsense right now.
He also said Boston is getting closer to a Harden trade.
He said Buddy Hield is getting close to being a Sixer.
Harrison Barnes is being heavily shopped.
Russell Westbrook market is nil at the moment. NY and Charlotte are going in a different direction

It gets complicated since now the Warriors have to do the picking in the draft. For Houston?

No reason for him to ask to extend the option unless staying is very much on the table. I think this situation is that he is rightly very worried that if opts in Ainge is going to trade him. The guy has a family that he is very focused on.
I wonder if Hayward really wants to stay they are working out a reasonable extension
If I am Hayward I want security. I want to know what school my kids are going to and where my wife and I living. I want one more big pay day. If that isn't in Boston I want to have some say where that is going to be. I would really like my 34 mil bucks. Right now I don't think he is sure how to get everything.
The team's with space are just not that attractive and they may not be that focused on a guy his age. ATL is an exception but they are notoriously cheap. If ATL was a place he wanted to go and they were going to make him an offer that met his demands I think he would already be gone. He has a good agent, Bartelstein knows what is out there.
It seems that teams that are interested in Hayward that he may also be interested in joining, ie Indiana, want him on a long term commitment not on the expiring deal and don't have cap space. That makes things complicated especially if you add in draft day compensation. So if this is Hayward and some combo of #14, #26, #30 Turner or Turner and Oladipo. Who is available at #14 is going to have a huge impact on this trade. If those picks can be packaged to move up makes a huge difference in the outcome. So this is also where we might be sitting.

What I learned is that Brown is apparently trash and no team wants him

i agree danny has had a boner for Harden forever, but I don't believe we make a trade to get him.
