Legitimately, if Brown, Semi, etc. can't play, they should just say Smart's wrist is still hurting and dare the NBA to play the game.
Nothing, absolutely nothing, is gained playing guys out of position and asking a bunch of end of bench guys to have to play 35-40 minutes because we have no available bodies.

Hey, isn’t there some rule that you can’t foul out a player when the roster is limited? I remember something like that with a Lakers game a few years back. Maybe I’m high, but this could likely work in DT’s favor.
I'm pretty sure there's such a rule. I forget whether extra fouls by a fouled-out player carry an extra penalty of some kind.
You can't foul out if the team doesn't have enough to put 5 guys on the floor. ie it will never be a hockey power play. I think you just keep the last guy out there and its A T for every foul after that. Been watching forever and I've never seen it happen though. Having 6 vs 5 on the court is more likely in my experience.
The Rule is.:
The last 5 players on the court Cannot foul out. No matter how many fouls they get.

We have only 8 fully available, so that makes 9 out

Re: Game Thread: Heat @ Celtics – 7:00PM, Sun. 01-10-21
We are basically fighting a top team in the league with:
3 Solid team players:
Smart
Theis
Teague
2 rookies:
Pritchard
Nesmith
1 seldom used player:
Edwards
and a couple of 2way contract players:
Waters
Fall
So unless one of the doubtful players is allowed to play we will face the heat with 3 solid players and 5 kids that should be getting some learning in the G League .

Silver lining of a bad situation: Brad will have to play Nesmith significant minutes, and this time there'll be no pressure on him. It won't be about no summer league, short preseason, or any of the other excuses given for his poor play/lack of run (that apply to all the other rookies in the league, too). He won't get yanked if he makes a mistake. It won't be about knowing the system. None of that. This will be about, can you play or not? No excuses. Let's find out.

All there is to it.
It’s a little more nuanced than that but there is some truth to it. It’s the coaches job to put his players in the best position to win. Sticking with lineups that clearly don’t work and trying to force a square peg in a round hole doesn’t do a service to anyone. Nevermind the fact that they continue to blow big leads on a nightly basis while the coach stands there and watches it happen. His lack of feel for momentum of the game is staggering. And it’s been a problem for years now.
We are 7-3 and have won 4 in a row! What are you talking about? You guys made the argument that Brad's rotations sucked when we lost a few games to start the season. Brad changed nothing and we started winning. But you guys stick to the same talking points. We have the longest winning streak of anyone right now. Pitino was right!
They had no choice but to go small in the last game because they were down three bigs, they also won another game because they went small to start the second half because the double big lineup was so bad that they had no other choice.
Brads rotations still suck, his timeout usage still sucks. Tatum and Brown however have not sucked. Once Kemba comes back and they ditch the stupid double big lineup I’ll probably lighten up on the coach a little bit the criticism I’m dishing out right now is 100% deserved IMO

It makes no sense to play season with so depleted teams like Philly yesterday and Boston today...NBA has to change health protocol rules or stop season.
Who is positive is out, others play on...that's how it should be...tracing virus and contacts like now, half of league will be out very soon.
We already have
Philly with 9 players out, same with Boston, Dallas has 4 out, with more to follow...I expect Washington today, tomorrow to find new cases...and so on, and so on...can not play like this

Shut it down. I know it's not all about me, but it wouldn't be the end of my world if I can't watch a Celtics game tonight.

Expand rosters to 20. Going to be risking injuries with playing with 8 guys for too long.

And you're being really generous listing Teague in the "solid" grouping.

But it's such a good opportunity for Edwards to work on his 40%/20%/undefined slash line.
