I'm so unbothered by this loss. I kinda wanted to close it out in Boston anyways so I'm excited for that opportunity. If we lose the next one then I will join some of you with some overreacting.

But they won. Who **** cares if they choked away a lead.
I’m continually blown away at how many people still don’t understand 20 point leads are nothing in todays NBA
So you are saying 21 point 4th quarter leads are “nothing” in today’s NBA. Yeah ok. Stellar take man. Really.

Looks like PP is not suitable for this Mavs team.
PP plays good enough D, but he's just giving up too much size.
Yeah, unless it's an end of quarter possession, this just isn't a Pritchard series. More Hauser.
Tillman had some defensive moments, but the game looked a bit too much for him tonight. IDK, if KP is done, I go X again, but would be quick to try Luke.
This is on Joe now.
The buttons he pushes for Game 5 could be the difference in this series.
Mavs size giving the Cs problems.

I think KP should play if he's healthy enough.
His rim protection is sorely missed.

I'm with you.
This was the one the Cs could afford to lose.
Losing Game 5 will be a totally different story.

Tillman had an early sequence where his shot got blocked, passed on an open 3 which resulted in a worse shot, and then fouled a guy taking a 3. It was a really costly stretch.
Queta would be an interesting adjustment because he is easily our best rebounder. Maybe he can have a Leon Powe moment.
I just want to see an adjustment. Anything….

It's 3-1 Boston. Can they lose 4 in a row, sure. But extremely unlikely. They didnt play with discipline and do the things they had been doing. Dallas played with much better pace and toughness. Then the role players started hitting shots. The fact they were already expecting Dallas to fold by saying KP would play in specific situations...ie up big late as a tribute tells me they thought this was over. A butt whooping is probably exactly what they needed to realize Dallas isnt going away softly and your not so good it cant happen
It was also extremely Likely that Boston wouldn't lose a game 7 in a playoff series considering home teams win a far greater amount. Even more so considering we had just won 3 straight.. But unlikely can happen..
It was also unlikely that the 1986 Boston team, that may have had the greatest team ever, who was about to get one of the greatest college talents ever, would not win at least 1 more..
I've seen way too many unlikelies That came true..
Not saying that will happen to Boston.. But this whole take things for granted is a poison to the mind..
Its not a take things for granted it's a lets realize despite the score this only counts as 1 loss and contrary to the feelings this team has actually won a lot of games and lost very few.

I’m not gonna say I’m worried but I’m concerned because Dallas has figured out something out And have locked down Boston for 5 straight quarters.

Yeah it is certainly adjustment time. Think we might try Kornet to help us on both ends. On offense, to punish when their bigs overhelp in the paint and throw lobs to him. And for rebounding and length on defense

Tilman can switch. Queta can't. Mavs centers can park in paint vs Queta. But you can also use the vetical space with Queta so maybe its worth a shot

There’s very little chance they’re putting Queta in at this point, having not used him all playoffs

I can't emphasize enough how important the Garden will be in game 5. After Kyrie and Lively called them out, the Garden better be rockin.

Tillman has that undersized Clarence Weatherspoon/Danny Fortson look but he isn’t even close to the rebounding presence those guys were. Tillman is versatile on the perimeter but he’s not given us any rim protection at all and Kyrie and Luka are getting to the basket at ease.
Even if we do win this year we need to explore getting size in some way for next year because we just can’t count on KP. And maybe next year you have to go up against Embiid and Giannis or Jokic if you reach the Finals.

I'm hoping Queta matures enough and evolves into that role.

Tilman is a great 3rd big. He works hard, can switch and is rugged. But he's a backup or 3rd big for a reason. For what we do on D he's a bette fit. Hes also blocked Luka and deterred some of his shots at the rim multiple times

threrf23 wrote:I felt like there was little effort from the coaching staff tonight. Not that I want to shout out the players either, just didn't feel like there was a game plan, nor in game adjustments.
Our guys made an effort to pass to the open teammate, just was little effort to get open or to exploit the Mavs' scheme. On defense, no rim protection, and in the first half I think Dereck Lively outrebounded our entire starting lineup.
One thing really striking about this Cs team vs like the Pierce/KG or even Pierce/Antoine Celts, is the team doesn’t seem to sense when they need to run a high percentage play to get a basket to stem the other teams momentum in a gritty moment during the game.
In the modern NBA where there aren’t really point guards and playbooks, it seems like they treat every possession the same no matter the circumstance. High screen, drive and kick, hope for an open or semi contested three and then just run it again and let the law of averages work things in your favor.
But when players are not moving, you’re so less able to misdirect the defense and get a high percentage shot when you really just need to score and don’t really need a 3 or to play the math game. And our system has really stagnated at this moment in the series.

When you are outrebounded by 21 boards you should expect to lose. That said.
In the 1rst quarter, there were several blocking calls against Luka that were let go,
and there were several moving screens by Dallas not called,
and there were MANY bumps and pushes by Dallas players attempting to dislodge or impede a Celtic that weren't called over the course of the game. With all those no-calls, there was no way that the Celtics were going to win this game in Dallas.
It was pre-determined that the refs were going to give Dallas a lot of slack on offense and defense.
Hopefully they call it closer to the rule book in Boston on Monday. Will have serious consequences for Dallas if they do.

Say what you want but the refs definitely allowed Dallas to play exceptionally tight defense that Boston was not allowed to.
They will not get away with that **** in Boston.
Also Boston can't come out tight two games in a row.

This is why I do a 2nd take whenever people here or outside of here called Tatum or Brown superstars. They are both very player players. All stars. No 2 "superstars" on the same team will let there beat go down by 50 points. I've said for a few years now that we are a .500 team with Tatum and Brown. White and Holiday make us contenders. KP added to the mix makes us a championship team.
We haven't been playing well in the playoffs when KP hasn't played despite our great records. Most of the wins have been close games with the other teams key player or players being out.
Boston needs all their starters to play well in game 5. They need the crowd at it's best to beat the Mavs. Or else there is a good chance we won't be winning number 18. Our bench has been terrible. I've been calling for Brissett and Queta to play for fews now. Joe won't do it because he is a robot. Stays with same bench guys. Pritchard and Hauser have had the struggles. Tillman is solid. Our wild cards are Brissett and Queta to give us a boost/energy off the bench.

Adjustment is not on Joe's vocabulary.
