The tweeting was classless, and he's insightful enough to tweet the other players for plausible deniability. Given the touchy relationship (putting it kindly) the Rockets presently hold with Asik, it was an idiotic, look at me tweet that there absolutely was no need for (really hammers home how happy we should be to have a guy like Stevens who never seeks out that kind of attention). I have no hate for Morey for not completing a trade with BOS.

He did the same thing for five players on his roster: Howard, Harden, Lin, Asik and Parsons. I'm not sure how that makes him a tool. But hey, it's Bash Daryl Morey Day here on the forum, isn't it?

He did it for other players having All Star type years.... I think if you can't read between the lines on this one, then you and Sheldon both need a class in identifying sarcasm.

I simply assumed that those were the five Rockets that were All Star candidates as selected by the league. If that was the case, then it would've been more damning NOT to include Asik in the tweets. The crowd would've found a way to bash Morey either way.

Yeah, I don't even know the details of the trade or non trade, how could I hold it against him? For all I know, Ainge could have been offering a 1st, top 25 protected, Lee and Bogans. In that case, I would tell him to pound sand as well, but this tweet was a childish dig in my opinion.

He did it for all of his players that are on the all-star ballot. Asik is on the ballot. It would have been insulting if he had tweeted about everyone BUT Asik. You guys are off the deep-end with the Morey bashing right now.

So Thaddeus Young requested a trade from the Sixers because he doesn't want to be on a tanking team. Also says he was looking forward to see the trade go down and WANTED to play in Houston. I wonder if this would put the trade back up.

Brandon Bass 1st round Clippers pick and Keith Bogans to the Sixers(Pick, solid Young replacement in Bass and an expiring), Asik and Motiejunas and Brewer to Boston, Thaddeus Young and Marshon Brooks to Houston. Something along those lines..

That would be awesome, but it would also just be too good to be true.

What Brun is saying makes sense considering Motiejunas and Asik have the same agent. I just feel like that deal would be far too much of a steal for us.

Not if he doesn't make the tweet, and no one can tell me with a straight face that Morey isn't smart enough to know the reactions that would come from the string of tweets. Just look at his twitter feed... He knows what he is doing with this, and it is exceptionally classless.

Seriously. He has had weeks to put up that type of tweet, but instead, he picks the hours after the trade is declared dead? That was a big "haha **** you" to Asik and his agent.

Yeah, a much more realistic explanation is that we are all out to get morey because he didn't trade us a player in a trade we don't even know the details of.

It depends what Philly wants for Young. Apparently Morey was hot after Millsap, Hawes or Young so I'd like to think he would be satisfied with this deal. I'd even swing Motiejunas Philly's way if they wanted.

To Boston Asik and Richardson
To Houston Thaddeus Young and Courney Lee
To Philly Bass, Motiejunas, Keith Bogans and a 1st

A bigger version of this could involve Miami with James Jones, Joel Anthony and a 2nd rounder coming to Boston while Jason Richardson goes their way since they need another guard. Or we could just deal with them separately at the deadline.

I think he is a pretty good GM who may have effed up big-time here.

Lied to him when he signed him about not pursuing anyone to start over him.

Failed to trade him this summer when it was obvious he should.

Forced him in at PF when it was obvious ha can't play there.

Created this silly auction with a deadline.

Pumped a bunch of fake rumors out there to drum up a market and failed to.

Leaked a bunch of real info that stirred up **** with half a dozen teams.

Then includes Asik's name in a series of tweets about All-Star voting? What is that? Was he trying to be funny? I don't even get it.

Bottom line for me, guy has done a pretty good job in Houston, but I think he is getting too into his own press. Guy is presented as a genius, but appears to me that might be limited to the numbers. Just seems to have poor social skills as they pertain to the human aspect of the game.

All GMs play the same game, but guys like Ainge don't go about it like this at all.

I still think a deal gets made with somebody, but it should never have gone down like this.

JMO.

You're funny. I'm sure every board on RealGM is reacting to Morey's tweets like us butthurt Celtics fans.

The only thing I'm wondering is that if Young demanded a trade weeks ago, why didn't we hear his name come up in these talks at all? Kind of odd, unless they're really doing a good job of keeping it under wraps.

Return to Boston Celtics
