Which one?

I'd like one of the mods to make the title of the next trade thread "plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose."

You get so enamored with inferior guys who “play the right way” and dismiss genuine talent when they don’t have enough help and need time to grow into their roles.

Barnes, Halliburton and Holmes for Tatum - we all love Hali but he’s nowhere near Tatum.

And then you want to trade Jaylen for Jalen Green, who’s not attainable, shoots 30 from three, doesn’t defend and has even more issue with fundamentals. If you like to piss on Jaylen and Tatum you’ll LOVE pissing on Green. Still doe-eyed for Garuba and no interest in Sengun?

Interesting, Sacramento Bee says the Pacers want an all-star for Sabonis and “have received offers reaching that threshold”

Any Jaylen trade not for KAT is a sideways move or a step back, but if it’s Fox + two prospects + dumping Horford’s money..

From a Celtic standpoint if I were wanting to be involved in a 3 Way for Brown I want the following:

Kings out: Haliburton, Barnes, Thompson
Kings in: Simmons, Pritchard

Celtics out: Brown, Pritchard
Celtics in: Haliburton, Barnes, Philly 1st

Philly out: Simmons, 1st
Philly in: Brown, Thompson (Waived)

I’m not sure the Kings would do this trade but if they would it would be what I want.

Of course you would. Both Sac and Phi get too much value there.

That’s your opinion which is fine though I think a Boston line up of

Haliburton
Smart
Tatum
Barnes
R Williams

Grant W
Horford
Nesmith
Langford

Would be well balanced on offense and defense, keep the Celtics out of the cap, have a good pnr action with Haliburton and Williams while significantly improving team ball movement and shooting. I don’t think Fox, who is really more of a 2 guard, is a good fit on the Celtics no matter who else you put with him. The Celtics need shooting and passing.

But like I said I’m not sure the Kings give up their two best shooters to bring in Simmons anyway so not going to spend multiple posts advocating for it.

All I can imagine is some kind of four team deal.. we’d like Hali, could live with Fox, but there needs to be more upside value with Fox/Barnes/Hield/Bagley going to a fourth team.. incredibly unlikely.

Like, Hali, Patrick Williams, Obi Toppin, Thybulle, dumping Horford’s money, maybe get Tobias Harris involved.. at least a Sacramento pick and maybe one from the fourth team..

We lose that trade, we need to win it, and the only way is to luck into good flips for the other pieces.

Brown’s the best player by a mile. Fox has shown no growth as a defender or shooter, is awful at both and managed to get more awful as a shooter this year. Simmons does some elite things better than Jaylen but we know the problems. Jaylen has one flaw at this point and he’s gotten better every year so there’s a chance he fixes it.

Balancing a roster and managing cap don’t matter when you’re trading a dollar for two quarters and a dime.

1. If Jalen Green is a poor shooter and defender weak on fundamentals, why isn't he attainable?

2. Senguin is nearer to his ceiling right now. I believe that Garuba has the potential to be a much better player 2-3 years down the road. More athletic, huge standing reach, quick on his feet defensively and a better stroke on the jumper.

All told Brad was pretty active and aggressive out of the gate last summer.
Do you think he will be for his first deadline, as well?

Also (honest question) has anyone seen Moses Brown this season?

Sounds like it'll be more of the same - shrewd moves at the margin.. Juancho to OKC with a second (I made that up), Schroeder for Jalen Smith would be a mini version of Kemba for Horford, TT out, and Josh into the TPE

What? Because Houston's rebuilding, they don't want a 25 year old making 25 million, and they see the potential for Green to continue to get better over time, which you somehow recognize with Garuba but not Brown or Tatum, who have both continued to get better over time.

Brown has gotten better at shooting, but that's it. Tatum has regressed.

Maybe in 3-4 years they will begin to figure it out. Meanwhile, it's 21-22 and last place in the Atlantic Division.

I actually checked for this the other day as I was wondering about him too. He is only playing something like 5-6 minutes a game for the Mavs.

In terms of Brad's comment about paying the tax and using the TPE's the other day, I thought the Fournier one would provide some interesting options due to its size. But the names of players at $17 million or less is not particularly exciting when you think about who might be both available and likely to be an actual improvement to the current roster.

https://hoopshype.com/salaries/players/

A veteran like Thad Young?

A young player who has not met expectation like Wendell Carter or Marvin Bagley?

Larry Nance Jr if the Blazers have a firesale?

Could the Celtics get SGA before that extension kicks in? Help the Thunder from winning too many games this year?

OKC won’t move SGA. The other players it depends if the Celtics are willing to pay the tax. Great unknown
