They were top 3 in offensive efficiency this year. Seems they'll likely double down on their style of play under Coach Joe...

Ultimately meant nothing when they faced a high school defense. Still bogs down in the 4th and in the clutch. Their offense needs flexibility, creativity, and diversification. More than energy, Cs offense needs rhythm and flow. Or if we're sticking with the same ****, minimize turnovers and become hyper-efficient with the tough shotmaking.

Rick Adelman once said "if you can pass you can play." As any high school coach will tell you, you beat a zone by passing and finding the holes, not by trying to dribble through it. But I guess our AAU darlings didn't get the message.

For the umpteenth time, they need players who know how to pass the ball and move without the ball, and players who will do those things.

What's your Grant stance? Match and flip later as needed? Or get a 2nd or 2 for not matching and move on? Other?
Feels like a later domino to me, but I'm torn. I liked that he was out there competing in the ECF and his shooting is great. Don't like that's he short and a touch too slow, and looking at more $ than I want.

Match and flip later as needed is what I would do. Celtics are not going to have ways to get talent so you just don't want talent walking out the door for nothing in my opinion.

Yeah, I'm basically there assuming only minor roster changes with the caveats of a) make sure it's a flippable $ amount, and b) we can manage the rest of the salary so it makes sense for when Tatum's supermax kicks. Don't need to panic beforehand, but that year could be a doozy.

If any of the stuff flung at the wall in this thread sticks (including S&T proposals for him), all bets are off, lol.

They've also got a super-underrated top guy in Butler who's got 2 maybe three years left max. So play style is great but they were one game away from getting bounced twice (play-in and ECF) and it's not going to get any easier for them due to all of the above.

Real move they need to make is trade Lowry for a lesser paid over-paid guy who could bounce back with their team kombucha like you say. Maybe Toronto wants him for the nostalgia or just pay to dump him to a cap space team for a year of Markelle Fultz or maybe Buddy Hield.

Whereas Boston's path to getting better is just make some better fitting tweaks and stop playing like dumba**es.

To follow up on the Miami situation, over the next few years they are:

3rd in total committed salary for next year (currently projected to start over the second apron once they make a draft pick/fill the next 4 roster spots), 5th in 24-25, and 2nd in total committed salary in 25-26 among only 4-5 players.

Seems like a lock they are going to trade Lowry for some cheaper guys, prob. sending out some assets. Then have to figure it out the next year again after that.

Can you still waive/stretch in the new CBA? Haven't heard anything about that.

Yeah he's a tough pill to swallow to stretch almost $30M. More I think about the more the Lowry for Hield makes sense. Hield's solid and can shoot, but not in anyone's super long-term plans. Miami could dump this year's pick and whatever else they needed to shed $10M to go from Lowry to Hield and then have a little bit to re-sign maybe Strus.

Or something simpler like to the Spurs for some combo of McDermott, Graham or Birch. That last one is actually pretty good.

Yeah, wasn't suggesting it for him. But his $29M did make me think to ask about it, lol.

Lowry goes away at the end of next year. He'll just retire. The players Miami will look to move after 2024 are Robinson and Herro.

Its amazing how many people know brown wont sign in portland.

Tonl share a board with posters so incredibly plugged into Brown and how he would feel in a year is priceless.

Who cares if he stays in Portland or not? If the Blazers trade for him, it's their problem. Will it lower Brown's value? Sure. But some teams might like the idea of a player with no long-term commitment. Let Dame convince him to stay if the two enjoy playing together. If they don't, Dame is probably headed elsewhere anyway and Portland goes into full rebuild mode around Shaedon Sharpe.

In other words trade your assets (sharpe, simons, #3 pick) for star talent...or trade me!
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

If there's even a slightest chance that Portland wood trade Sharpe and number 3 Which may possibly end up being Scoot Henderson For Brown and PP and even throwing Grant Williams, Boston should go all out with that..

Sharpe and Scoot Henderson are oozing with talent and a possibility of getting both of them is way too appealing than paying someone who is clearly not going to get much better 300 million dollars...

That would be the steal of the century...

Boston can then try to trade either smart or Brogdon For someone at the big position..

Brad save yourself and this franchise and make this happen please..

3rd pick is ok, but Sharpe showed enough this season to raise his floor significantly. Draft picks have high ceilings but until they see regular season play their floors are in the Mariana trench. Sharpe is the headline asset.

The minute we trade Jaylen Brown we’re looking for players who can be as good as Jaylen Brown. Sharpe is one of them. Amen Thompson and Scoot Henderson? Too much risk when you’re dealing away an all-NBA player.

We need a Lillard/Mitchell/Murray elite type and level of player who can dismantle any defense with driving, passing and shooting ability. That's the number one priority in my opinion. Adding a strong big man to the front court is generally easier to accomplish.

Just sign Grant to 5M per year max. There are tons of players with that skill set anywhere. Short, slow, unathletic, cocky as hell. Erratic shooting. He shot well in game 5, but looked shook in game 6 and 7. Missed tons of defensive assignments, won’t box out. Won’t even fight through screens. If he agrees to 5M then fine, if not, good riddance.

Not trading Tatum for a bean poke who’s never played a game in the NBA.
Good assessment:

PLO wrote:Tatum played OK - took advantage of a few mismatches - decent on the defensive end. He is what we thought he was going into the season - a technically very proficient player operating close to his career ceiling as a rookie.

Trade of thr day.

If those quotes from Dame are legit....

Orlando trades
#11, anthony, Harris
Gets
Simons
Get a young guard to pair with banchero, wcjr, #6
Simons/??/wagner/banchero/wcjr

Portland trades
#3, sharpe, simons
Gets
Brown, anthony, harris, 11
Portland loads up with Vets, maintain a lotto pick.
Dame/harris/brown/grant/nurkic

Boston trades
Brown
Gets
Sharpe and #3
Boston adds better pieces/skills around Brown and creates a 25 million tpe.

Scoot/smart
Sharpe/white
Tatum/???
???/grant/gallo
Timelord/horford

Pritchard and brogdon for a starting pf and backup sf.

Easy...
