Maybe even a 5th 2nd if you can get one for Marshall into a TPE, though might be tough since it's a salary dump.

Brad made an upgrade by turning Jrue into Simons.

Now you want to downgrade by going from a 26-year old Simons to a washed 35-year old Klay???

So you think the Blazers gave up 2nds for a worse player on a higher salary and longer term deal and 10 years older? I understand every GM is not a genius, but that seems like a Celtics colored glasses view. Go read what any POR fan has said about Simons... he sucks. He's an empty stats player hwo plays losing basketball. Maybe he changes his tune here... it's a decent flier to take. But we got worse on the court if the goal is to win games. Simons is, so far in his career, a Kyle Kuzma type of player that lines up at guard. He is not someone, as he is right now, that anyone should be excited about having on this team for any reason other than how he helped our overall salary picture compared to Jrue.

Not sure why some would prefer draft picks instead of a proven up and coming player in Simons.

Once KP gets moved, that will be the sign the Cs are keeping Simons.

That's not a 50 win team.

Read on Twitter

Miami makes a lot of sense if Simons isn't sticking with us. Orlando already got Bane so they're out.

One thing's for sure Simons is better than Klay at this stage of their careers.

And like I said, that's the beauty of this trade, the Celtics have an out because he's an expiring.

If Simons does not fit in then move him at the deadline.

But give him a chance from October to February.

7-8 hours since the trade and there's still no "Welcome to Boston, Anfernee" thread. It's like we expect this to be a cup-of-coffee kind of stint.

would not be surprised if we feature him first half of the year to pump some stats and trade him at deadline, if they don’t see him as a real core piece but he should have value

I said capable of 50.

45 to 49 wins will be fine.

Anybody knocking this trade needs intervention. They easily won the trade handily.

You can say they won the trade and then say Simons is going to be/should be moved again. Two different things.

I'm thinking J rich 2.0. Extend him and deal him at the deadline.

It doesnt matter what they do with Simons. They got off Jrue contact and gave up nothing to do it. They accomplished exactly what they needed to do.

It's not like Simons will be a 1st or 2nd option with the Cs.

Simons will be the 3rd or 4th option.

That's not bad at all.

I was assuming the pause was because nobody wanted to be responsible for a jinx.

I still want a lottery pick this draft so with the green goggles on I hope a team like the Bulls or the Hawks see more value in Simons vs a rookie. :D

Himmelsbach:

The fact that Simons is on an expiring deal, combined with Boston’s clear desire for further cost-cutting, certainly opens the door for Simons to potentially be moved in a subsequent trade. A league source said that the Celtics acquired Simons because they like what he can bring to the team, but added that the team remains engaged on all fronts as it continues to look for ways to upgrade the roster.

I lean that way as well. A hot shooting half season and good scoring numbers and turn him into a late first kind of value would be a home run for this team.

And for the player, he's on an expiring and playing for his next deal. He'll be incentivized to be at his best and the team can use his scoring until Tatum returns.

I've long been down on him but given the circumstances there is an opportunity for a win-win which Brad loves. Can't discount that he is always looking at the player side of these things as well.

In terms of salary cap PP is extremely valuable and he can play. With the punitive CBA salary guidelines he may be the least likely person to be traded, next to Tatum on the whole team
