I don't see Kemba being dumped for nothing if he looks healthy either. Jrue Holiday made a lot of sense because he's young and better but I'm skeptical about any trade materializing unless Danny gets a comporable player.

By trading Kemba in a dump, you piss off Tatum and the locker room, and make yourself worse for "flexibility". Call me skeptical on this, unless we make a lateral move by trading Walker.

I don’t think it’s Lowry either I think it’s to a 3rd team in the offseason combined with a package for another all star level player to pair with the jays or a few players to fill out the team and picks.

Jrue Holiday is like one month younger than kemba. Allen Iverson and Elton Brand were on the Sixers when Jrue was a rookie.

Yeah I think if Kemba's moved, he probably serves as a piece to get us assets that we re-route to a third team along with our other assets for an upgrade. The only issue with that is there arent a lot of teams that need a player like Kemba. Dallas and New Orleans are the only teams I can really think of and Dallas doesnt even have all their picks.

Combining last season, last post-season and this early part of this new season:

The Celtics are 35-8 when Smart takes 10 shots or less

The Celtics are 21-25 when Smart takes over 10 shots

Smart needs to go for this team to succeed, especially when it comes to Tatum and Brown’s development.

Smart is one of the leaders of this squad smh, he's an important piece to getting banner 18... Take your stats and @#@ it lol. Take Marcus out and you'll see just how soft of a squad we can be...… It's bad enough our 5 spot gets exposed still on the daily.

How about Brad reigns in smart on offense and actually coach him? There's no doubt that Brad giving free reign to Rozier and others was part of the problem with Kyrie. Not that we'd keep him but Brad's college system makes no sense when you have clear studs that should be getting the shots when possible.

What does Javonte do on the team other than be having the last name 'Green'?

Smart is getting 11 FGA per game this season, almost half of Tatum's 20 FGA. Last season was the same, 11 FGA.
In 2018-2019, Terry Rozier, with this "free reign" you speak of, averaged 8 FGA per game compared to Kyrie's 18. Scary Terry had the 7th most FGA per game on the team among players who got major minutes.
I don't know how that translates to "college system" but the disparity between Tatum's FGA/g to Smart's is greater than that between Lebron's and Kuzma's.

As a 3rd or 4th option he would be great! Would he be comfortable in that role is the question?

As a 3rd or 4th option his value diminishes a lot, because he doesn't provide much else besides scoring. Not the player we're looking to add I think

He'd have it plenty. I wonder how willing he is to be a 3rd option on a winner VS #1 option on a stinker.

A “leader” knows his limitations and steps back for the good of the team. The guy has morphed into a chucker who can’t help himself from shooting his team right out of games. You can take that “toughness” and equally shove it.

How do we do when he deviates well above that average? Some people stay consistent with their averages and others deviate greatly. What your numbers don't say is what were the numbers in crunch time. How often did they play hero ball when better shooters were out there.

The eye test is pretty strong with smart at times and he honestly hasn't seemed to learn anything from it.

We look at the games instead of making up narratives in our heads. For example, in 2019-2020, Smart had 5 games with over 20 FGA. One or both of Jaylen and kemba were out for 4 of those 5 games. In all 5 games Smart was either the best shooter or the 2nd best shooter of BOS's top 4. So it's pretty silly to argue that Smart shoots us out of games.

Yeah I think if it's a move that makes you clearly better or at least younger and the same level down the line, sure you do it. If Kemba stays healthy though, he's a very good player and better than most in the league.

Like of course you move Kemba for assets if you can get Beal or something. But that's unlikely.

Also, like I said, the positive of Hayward leaving was that Smart's contract would be way easier to afford, even with Kemba.

he's far from a "chucker". have you been watching this season at all?! He's been deferring all season long and tell me who runs the pick and roll smoother then he does on this team? Sounds like your just a Cobra hater .

Just need to trade for a 12-16 PPG scorer to somewhat try to replace Hayward. There’s still a glaring need for more offense and efficiency that Ainge still hasn’t addressed since the summer. Don’t need a huge deal but something small getting a guy similar to Harrison Barnes

I don't understand the Smart hate. Well, actually I do. He was a terrible shooter when he came into the league. Marcus Smart his first 4 years in the league was someone you really didn't want taking any volume of shots. The last 3 years, he's become a different player. He's greatly improved on offense but perception hasn't caught up with it. Is he an AWESOME offensive player? Hell to the no. Is he a good one? Yes, very clearly. He was league average give or take a little in '18-19 and '19-20. He's had two bad games from 3 in a row now but prior to that was doing the same thing. As season sample size grows seems a great bet he ends up in that range again.

I'm not saying shot selection isn't a weakness at times. There are still a few times a game where he gets into the paint off the P&R but the defense has everything covered. In those situation he needs to get better at finding a way to kick it back out vs. throwing up a prayer at the rim. Overall he's a very good P&R ball handler. Issue is that he does it off of smarts (no pun intended) as opposed to sheer ball handling skill. So in some of those tightly contested defensive situations he has trouble aborting mission so he heaves a shot.

I don't understand what people want. He's a good, not great offensive player. He shoots a solid percentage from deep on high volume as both spot up and off the dribble shooter. He's a quality P&R ball handler. He's an extremely good quality 4th/5th option to run offense through on the floor at a time. He takes shot volume in line with that role.

Again, I'd love to see him improve his handle in tightly contested paint situations to be better at kicking back out, but that's a really hard skill. I don't think people are being realistic if they don't think your 4th/5th offensive option isn't going to have some deficiencies.

Since we're not a ball-moving team anyway and likely won't be in the Jays era due to their preference/style of play, a guy like Jordan Clarkson would've been nice to have off the bench. And I HATE Jordan Clarkson's game. That's how down I am with our offense. It's just Kemba, Smart, Tatum, and Brown taking turns. Not much ball or player movement outside of the initial setup. We're among the bottom 3rd in both unassisted 2-pt FGs and 3-pt FGs. And in late game situations, we then settle for too many jumpers. No elite player who can get to the cup or the FT line with consistency.

Personally I'd like him to accept what his role is. I'm not sure he's coachable in that way honestly (and I don't think Brad is great at handling egos and getting some players to accept their roles). If he accepted that he was a 4th or 5th option and worked harder to let those ahead of him get the shots then there would be no problem. Didn't he throw **** in the locker in the last playoffs after being called out on his shot selection?
