Nearing quarter-mark of the season, here are the records of the top 10 tax teams this season:

Ime Udoka doing work with the baby Rockets. Second place in the West. Glad to see him land on his feet after a costly mistake.

Ironically Udoka being unable to control his hormones really worked out for the best for us

Joe Mazz has a unique bond and chemistry with our players than the somewhat cold and Teutonic (personality wise imo) Ime couldn't.

In my life time of being a passionate sport fan (across all codes and sports) I don't think I have ever enjoyed a coach and all his eccentricities as much as Joe Mazzulla.

He is almost as entertaining as our players !

No doubt at the very least Udoka is a good coach.

But Joe's offense, based on Brad Stevens basketball, is game-changing.

Same, I was wrong about Joe. I can't remember the exact things I said but I was definitely not a believer of his early on. I thought he was in over his head. Similar to how I feel about Mayo with the Patriots....But I won't get on that here.

That end to the 1st half might be the one of the best in Hornets history. Josh Green should be dead after he got rammed in the head by Josh Hart. Proceeded to score a bucket, steal an inbounds pass, and beat the buzzer all in 6 seconds.

So let's consider them one by one.

1. Phoenix: Bought the best available players. One of those, Beal, wasn't very good. Overall mediocrity has ensued, although detailed asseessments are hard due to the injury issues. (To be fair, those were not only expected but factored into pricing -- e.g., Durant would have cost even more if he were in his healthy prime.)

2. Minny: Bought the best available player(s). But quickly panicked about CBA issues. Mediocrity has now ensued.

3. Boston: Assembled a great roster. Paying salary costs and enduring CBA issues accordingly.

4. Milwaukee: Made a bad talent move (Jrue for Dame). Made a couple of bad coaching moves. Drafted weirdly. Has not had great injury luck as guys age. Mediocrity has ensued.

5. New York: Traded for fit over talent in Bridges. Traded for talent over fit in Towns. Always has injury issues, because Thibs. Mediocrity has ensued.

6. LAL: Secured two great if aging stars, because Lakers. Made some good player acquisitions (Caruso, Reaves, Knecht). Made plenty of bad moves too (e.g., letting Caruso go). Streaky.

7. MIA: Overperforms talent levels, because Spoelstra. Overpays talent, because performance. Mediocrity has ensued.

8. DEN: Made the greatest draft pick ever. Has brought in good role players around him. Doesn't keep them, because CBA. Still good.

9. PHI: Morey believes in gambling for championships when the odds are low. Low-odds gambles usually fail.

10. GSW: Made great draft picks long ago. Paying salary costs and enduring CBA issues accordingly.

The Hawks are 4-1 against the top 4 of the Eastern conference and 5-10 against the rest of the league. Make it make sense.

Good wordflow potential in the name of fired NFL coach Max Eberfluss.

"Eber" means "ever" or "forever" in German.

"Fluss" means "flow" or "river".

And a key theorem in combinatorics equates "max flow" to "min cut".

Warriors and Cavs 2-3 in their last 5 games.

Like the Cavs, the 2017-18 Celtics were 17-3 in their first 20 games. But unlike the Cavs, those Celtics made the ECF.

This Lakers cup court is actually painful physically. Who approves such wild colors?

Max Christie, verified idiot. Why did he foul?

Redick just playing idiots in crunch time.

Lakers fail to defend their "title".

I just looked at the Lakers, they were 10-4 just a little bit ago, they are now 11-8. 1-4 in their last five. They lost to all good teams, beat a Spurs team that is playing solidly this season so far.

I didn’t look, but was the 10-4 a fluke (bad teams) or are they going to be good this season? I do know that A.D. must stay healthy if they want to win. I never want them to be good, but if they are, they are. I just want to know if you think they were like Doc said, “at this point in the season bad teams don’t know they are bad yet” and maybe Lakers are at the find out stage?

Problem with the Lakers, as with most aspiring contenders, they have to choose between fielding offensive or defensive players. They mostly have players that are good on offense but don't impact defense in a positive way. Lebron also can't give his all every game. So AD is their only above average two-way guy. They're lucky he's been healthy since last season. Credit Redick though for the offense he's installed. They actually run plays now lol. Lakers are currently 25th in defense. And I don't know how much they can improve with the personnel they have.

As long as Austin Reeves, Dalton Knecht, and D-Lo play a lot, Lakers never going to be a good defensive team.

Gabe Vincent also fooled the Lakers.

Looking like that excellent performance from Gabe in the 2023 ECF was a fluke.

Starting lineup of the Spurs currently has the best net rating in the league (+23.7), minimum 200 possessions.

via @anthonyVslater:
"Steve Kerr: “This is how it is. It’s the NBA. It’s a competitive, vicious league. Four games ago, we’re on top of the world. Everybody’s happy. Now we’ve lost four in a row. Everybody’s pissed."

Mazzulla hasn't lost four in a row in his coaching career and he doesn't even have Steph Curry on his roster.
