As far as I know he's had that since freshman year which means probably high school. He was doin em on the court at Okie State.

Marcus could be a professional athlete in a lot of different ways I think. For someone who can barely dunk he’s an amazing athlete.

After months of not even thinking of the Celtics, I have only watched a few minutes, mostly highlights. My impression - which I think is more objective and less tinged by homerism - is that the team looks more like the flawed team we thought they were at the start of season than a legit contender. Hope I am wrong.

Can we get the 2nd seed?

Raptors Schedule

Lakers - Raps win (Lakers so far ahead in standings and playing clips game before, I can see raps winning)
Heat - Heat win (they have won both match ups so far)
Magic - Raps win
Celtics - Crucial for celtics to win this game.
Grizzlies - raps win. Grizzlies going to be guns blazing every game to make the playoffs, think raps still win.
Bucks - Bucks win
76ers - 76ers win. I like simmons at PF
Nuggets - nuggets fighting for seeding as well, hopefully they win

So raps goes 3-5

Celtics Schedule

Bucks - Bucks win. Rooting for my team but with Tatum rusty and kemba limited seems like a Bucks win.
Blazers - Blazers win. Can go either way, but blazers on a mission.
Heat - Celtics win
Nets - Celtics win
Raptors - Celtics win...because they have to if they want 2nd seed.
Magic - Celtics win
Grizzlies - Celtics Win
Wizards - Celtics win

Celtics goes 6-2.

Which by my calculation we would be tied for 2nd seed but Celtics has the tie breaker.

Glancing at the schedule I can see the following likely happening:

1. 76ers move to 4th seed
2. Miami drops to 5th seed
3. Pacers drop to 6th seed.
4. Magic moves to 7th seed.

If we get the second seed, our path of Magic - Raptors - Bucks / 76ers. This would be ideal vs any other scenarios I can think of. I mean it would be good for Heat to beat Philly then bucks but doubt that happens.

It's only been like 1.5 games and Kemba has barely played, but you're right; that's kind of how they've looked.

Thing is, this season, guys came in focused on proving their reputation wrong. They knew what they had to do to win. Move the ball. Find the best shot you can for your teammates or you. Bust your ass on defense to cover for your teammates on closeouts and in the paint.

After the hiatus, I'm sure guys have been more focused on their own games than how it relates to the team. I know Tatum feels pressure to hit the ground running and score 30 a game like he was doing in February and March. Other guys want to make sure they haven't lost their touch during the break. After all, the playoffs are only a few weeks away.

But that's very similar to what we looked like in 18-19. A lot of guys were trying to take their games to the next level despite uncertainty of touches. A few guys in contract years and Gordon had to prove he could play again on his ankle.

I think we will get back to playing good ball, but these guys have to remember how it started (and I think they do). They gotta play hard for each other and everything will fall back into place.

I understand the need for Tatum and others to work out their iso game but let's get the ball moving and play some defense first.

I'll only start to be worried if it carries to the regular season. I know these guys have to get their feet under them somehow.

asking this team to just hit the pause button and pick back up where they left off is just fantasy.....there's gonna be rust, defensive lapses, timing issue's and shooting slumps. basketball is a rhythm game, it's gonna be awhile until they r close to even hitting on anything near all cylinders.

that said, this team is what it is IMO and nothings changed and most certainly not based off 2 scrimmage games where the started played 3 quarters at best. we are a fringe contender IF the top teams get injuries or we get get unbelievable luck. i am all in either way and will just enjoy being able to watch sports and basketball.

Our home crowd is awesome. Especially in the playoffs. I miss it already.

If this season does in fact play out, we’ll gain some great experience with the focus being limited (thanks, bubble) to basketball. Then give these guys another season of seasoning and add our home crowd back to it and I think we’re really cooking in the 2021 playoffs.

As I've said before, this team is all about the bench. It is potentially a good bench, but it is inexperienced and lacks a proven scorer. As the bench goes, so go the 2019-20 Celtics.

If Sabonis is out for the season, would you prefer we play the Pacers or Magic?

Hoping the long-time fans/RealGM posters are reading this and have an answer...

Post-Bird but Pre-KG, which Celtics team iteration had the best chance of reaching the Finals? I know the 2002 Celtics got to the Conference Finals, but in terms of overall talent and fan expectation, which group did you think should've gone deepest in the playoffs? And how does this year's group compare to any of the post-Bird/pre-KG teams?

I like the question, and would say that Pierce/Walker/Battie/Kenny Anderson team, no doubt. That was the only team from 1992 to 2008 that gained any national attention — I think they got to #5 in someone’s “power rankings” once which blew my success-starved mind. What we have now feels reminiscent but is >> by a bit IMO. I loved PP and AW but would take JB and JT over them as building blocks, for example.

Yeah. The current team is a bit better. I think that they have the potential to get a lot better, as well.
Also, we actually have a couple more players, with the two-ways.

All-NBA

First team
G: LeBron James
G: James Harden
F: Giannis Antetokounmpo
F: Kawhi Leonard
C: Anthony Davis

Second team
G: Chris Paul
G: Damian Lillard
F: Luka Doncic
F: Jimmy Butler
C: Nikola Jokic

Third team
G: Ben Simmons
G: Jayson Tatum
F: Pascal Siakam
F: Khris Middleton
C: Rudy Gobert

Smart made second team all defense as well.

Spoiler:
Tatum finished at 23.5 points per game on 45% shooting, including 40% from deep. He beefed up those numbers with his wintertime superstar leap, but you don't end up at 23.5 points with two months of work. I'd rather have a player's season trend up than down. Tatum is one of the league's best wing defenders, and a plus-minus god.

Smart is a monster: impossible to screen, immovable in the post, strong across four positions
