About 3-4 weeks ago, I said Brown would resign soon for the supermax. Some of us felt like that was a no brainer.

Lot of people here were talking about trading Brown. I said it's not your money or your team. Don't worry about what you can't control. People were in a hurry to get the deal done so they can bitch and complain. And here we are. Still not your money.

Brad and the owners did what was best. They signed Brown to the supermax. Deserving of being the highest paid player or not, congrats to Brown!

If the owners can afford to pay a player $300 million, which they can, than good for them.
Also, the Celtics don't have to win a championship this coming season or the following, to justify the amount they just paid. Their money, their team. Fans will always come back, year after year, win or lose.

welp, I guess our championship window is 2023 because after his contract kicks in we're screwed. Congratulation Jaylen Brown. That is the kind of money he'll be able to use to fund his first love, politics, when he runs for office after he retires. No use complaining about it. Let's just hope we can put it all together and get Banner 18.

Celtics franchise has won 1 title since the 86 season. So it's not about winning.
They are making more money than ever before. The owners of the team are really rewarded well financially
and so are the players of the team.

This is the new NBA and the new way this planet works. 70% of the population lives pay check to pay check. Homelessness is a huge issue. But players are making $60 million a year and that does not include endorsements. If some players are making $60 million a year or more, what are the owners of teams making?

Shohei Ohtani will be making over half a billion on his next contract.

Not screwed at all. He'll have plenty of market value in a couple of years, assuming he doesn't end up with some major injury.

JB put in the work. So did the richest people (top 1%). They put in a lot of work. Still do. Now their money works for them. But to get to that point, they put in a ton of work.

The huge money made by a tiny sliver of elite athletes has basically no bearing on the state of the world. But go look at how someone made enough money to own an NBA franchise and you'll be closer to the source of the problem.

Possibly OT, I know.

Happy for JB that he got paid. Still skeptical of our title chances with him as a #2 mainly due to lack of playmaking capability, iffy decision making, on-off switch on defense, and questionable BBIQ.

Is there hope for growth in those areas that matter? We shall see.

With the weapons they have (as long as they have it), gotta capitalize and have a more balanced attack. Offense less predictable and harder to defend that way. Stash your DIY kits and let's see more team ball, Cs.

Theres more athletes getting these huge contracts

Theres only 30 or so owners in any given league

What is the source of the problem ?

Anyway the thing that is deranged about these contracts is

Jaylen brown avg like 66 games a year

Play 82 games man wtf, missing like 30% of work

I feel get paid 60 mil a year

Play at least 76 games and avg 38 mpg

Why pay so much to play him 33 mpg and then a backup 20 mpg

It should be jaylen eating up 80% of the game
