Thanks to Edelman for a prototypical Boston career.
And one of the most amazing catches in NFL history.
Fitting he and the Laser Show go out the same year.

Re: General Boston Sports Thread, Phase 2
Edelman won't make the NFL HOF in all likelihood but if there was ever a HOF for how NFL players performed in the postseason, he would deserve to make it. His skill/toughness just more important against elite defenses in the postseason. I sure hope he stays retired and ideally if anything he would have retired 1-2 years earlier to save some damage to his knees but tough to retire after winning a Super Bowl and being the MVP in that game.

They're experimenting with moving the mound back a foot in the Atlantic League. Everything is either a homer, a K or BB now and it's a pretty terrible viewing experience for what is already a pretty boring product. Every team has multiple pitchers who can drop 98 now, it's kind of insane.

Fields may slide in the draft. I like Jimmy at $20m a year if it is for Gilmore or a 3rd.

Re: General Boston Sports Thread, Phase 2
If you have Garoppolo as your QB, you need someone else to play the other 10 games that he misses, plus the playoffs. I can't imagine they are serious about trading for him. If he's healthy he's a league average QB at this point regardless, maybe not even that. Why not just put your faith into Newton or a rookie QB, both of which will be much, much cheaper.
He's fine if he's on the Cam Newton contract, but not if he is making 20 million. He'll be 30 this season and he's played more than 6 games once in his career. This is like the Hornets signing Hayward and then being surprised when he breaks some bone or ligament or fingernail or whatever midway through the season.
I hope they trade down and out of the first round and piss everyone off. Then get someone like Mond or Trask in the the 3-5th.

I wouldn't hate Jimmy. He'd be an upgrade over Cam. Just seems like a stop gap more than a long term solution and if that's the case I'd rather just keep the assets it takes to get him.

I doubt he ends up in New England but according to Adam Schefter/ESPN, Aaron Rodgers wants a trade.

Re: General Boston Sports Thread, Phase 2
I'll be happy with Mac Jones. A little shorter than Brady but much faster. Chris Simms tends to favor mobile QB's and QB's that can throw off platform but he still has Jones as 3rd best quarterback of the draft. And says he is more accurate right now than Trevor Lawrence. Chris Simms has been fairly accurate the last few years in picking out the best QB's. Better than typical GM.
Only reason not to take Jones if he is available is if you think you can trade down and get him later or you just don't think he has the arm strength to succeed in the NFL as a starter.

If you want a little better analysis, go on Youtube and look what Chris Simms says about Fields. Simms knows something about being a QB and questions his accuracy and mechanics. He is talented in terms of arm strength and speed but questions his accuracy.

yup, Team Mac now. Guess I'm glad it 'worked out' for them without having to give any assets.
Chris Simms can suck it though.
