Re: Trade Landscape/Trade Ideas
BOS
Out: Bass, Crawford, Hump, Faverani, '15 LAC 1st, '15 BOS 1st
In: Asik, Mayo, Sanders
C's would have: Rondo, Bradley/Mayo, Green/Wallace, Sully/Olynyk, Asik/Sanders while still maintaining their valuable '14 1st and the future unprotected Brooklyn picks.
MIL
Out: Mayo, Sanders
In: Hump, I. Canaan, Faverani, '14 BKN/ATL 1st (whichever is worse), '15 LAC 1st
MIL clears a lot of salary with Hump walking at the end of the year, pick up 2 prospects in Canaan/Faverani and two late 1sts. If this needs to be sweetened, we can offer them the option to swap '15 1sts with us.
HOU
Out: Asik, Canaan
In: Bass, Crawford
Houston picks up a PF who can compliment Howard while adding a scoring 1/2 guard off the bench

This is interesting. Not a huge fan of Mayo or Sanders' contracts... but this would be very very interesting...

Really hard to justify taking on Asik and Sanders' money when they play the same position... And MIL can get more for Mayo and Sanders...

Re: Trade Landscape/Trade Ideas
Would you trade a top 5 pick in 2014 to create a legit title contender?
2014 NBA Draft night via ESPN
BREAKING NEWS, THIS JUST IN. WE'VE RECEIVED WORD THAT THE NEW YORK KNICKS AND BOSTON CELTICS WILL FACILITATE A TRADE FEATURING THE 3RD OVERALL PICK AND CARMELO ANTHONY. DETAILS CURRENTLY:
KNICKS SEND:
-Carmelo Anthony (extended contract sign and trade)
-Tyson Chandler
BOSTON SENDS
-2014 pick unprotected (at this stage this trade is a draft night trade and the pick is top 5)
-2014 pick (Brooklyn possibly Atlanta)
-2015 first round pick in 20-25 range (Clippers)
-Wallace
-Bass
-Olynyk
-Crawford
Fillers (Bogans, Faverani)
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=lca6nzq
Note: See how many more picks we still have below
.
I would then go after Lance Stephenson and forget re-signing Bradley. We'd presumably have to move Green to get Stephenson but that 9 million dollar contract is perfect in a sign and trade for Stephenson with Indiana or working a three team deal.
If we can't get Lance, or Indiana matches, we still have Green.
In this scenario we end up with a brutal team of:
PG Rondo/Crawford
SG Stephenson or Bradley
SF Melo/Veteran (Pierce?)
PF Sully
C Tyson Chandler
*PLUS*
Our own 2015, 2016, 17, 2018 etc. picks
*PLUS*
Brooklyn's 2016 pick, the rights to swap their 2017 pick, Brooklyn's 2018 pick.
LOL
Do we really have a better shot at winning a title than that while we still have Rondo?

certainly a team that would be in the mix for a couple years but i don't think a Contender or not for long anyway. I would not do that trade. Chandler will be 32 with a history of Injuries and Melo will be 30 to start the 2014-2015 season. It would be worth it if it got us a Banner but I don't think that team would get us a Banner. If we had the three pick i would not trade it for Melo. If it was a 6 or 7 pick maybe.

I disagree that the team can't win a title, but the title depends on Chandler's health. Remember this is a guy who in 2011, was an amazing ring protector against the Heat. Melo with some serious help from Rondo is a Melo we realy haven't ever seen before. I think we'd be lucky if Jabari Parker turned out to be as good as Carmelo Anthony and he's the number one pick. He's only 30 entering the new season- that's still easily classed as his prime.
That's fair enough regarding Chandler's injury concerns though, so perhaps go after Melo and his addition lures another free agent such as Chris Bosh...
Would be a huge amount of salary for us to take on though. Bosh makes us a deadly team.
Of course we could try and go after Asik too because he's only 8 million against the cap. Big tax bill, but beast of a starting 5....
PG Rondo 14 million
SG Lance Stephenson 9 million
SF Melo-22 million
PF Bosh-20 million
C Asik-8 million
=$73 million w/ 4-5 million for bench...
lots of tax but title team right?

Re: Trade Landscape/Trade Ideas
My thinking at this point is Ainge is done trading for salary purposes. I think he was dealing for Asik to unload the the extra year of Lee while Courtney was playing well and he was able to get that done. Obviously if you want to call and talk about trading for Gerald Wallace the team isn't going to leave you on hold but I think that Ainge has accomplished what he set out to do there.
Ainge is clearly positioned as a seller. He has a handful of guards and power forwards with all different price tags to chose from.
But the thing to keep an eye for me is Bynum. I think it is reality check time for him. It does not appear that any of the contenders are interested. I understand that the guy is a mess but the cost at this point is so small why not give it a shot I think an environment where it isn't about last nights results and with kind of long focus may be what the guy needs.

Re: Trade Landscape/Trade Ideas
i still think Charlotte is a team we can take advantage of.. They are freefalling in standings and were expected to compete for playoff spot this year..
I think we can send them over J Crawford and Bass for Gordon and a pick..
and its unfortunate Gordon cant even get any minutes on this Charlotte Team!!
EdIT: Like others have stated a Gordon + Picks for Bass / JCraw/ Bogans deal would be great for both parties

Agree with mod. Like the idea of taking Bynum for a spin.
Dont generally like the idea of trading Rondo but if we must here is one I would do:
Rondo and Green for CP3!!!!!
Who says no? BOS OR LAC??

I don't really see how this would be great for the Bobcats. They weren't expected to legitimately contend for a playoff spot this season. Most had them pegged around 30 wins. They just got off to a somewhat surprising start and have plummeted back down to earth.
If I'm Charlotte, I'm being realistic and thinking that we have a solid nucleus that is headed in the right direction and that instead of trading picks, we'll keep building toward the future.
It would be kind of silly for the Bobcats to trade a draft pick(s) for Bass and Crawford when it looks like their pick is going to be lottery-bound.

I see your point but also something to think about is the years and protections on the picks.. I think the issue with Charlotte may be their bench to be honest.. They move an expiring for some quality depth to their bench.. I believe they also have multiple draft picks this year so they could still add to their nucleus

Honestly, I think they'd be better off using both of their draft picks (they also have Portland's) and addressing their bench over the summer with whatever available money they have (both Gordon and Sessions come off the books this summer, so it looks like they'll have some space).

I suspect the Bobcats may have more interest in Humphries, as they can maintain their 2014-15 cap space, and replace Zeller with Hump, in their rotation. Might be able to get Gordon & the Portland pick for Hump. The Portland picks probably in the mid-20's, so not a huge loss for Charlotte...

I'm not too familiar with the Warriors rotations, but I heard it floated they could use an extra guard. How about Harrison Barnes for Crawford? Crawford goes to a contender, we get to develop Barnes.

For sure.
Crawford's a bum in comparison in terms of value

I'm not so sure about that. Bass is still better off this team for an expiring and Jeff Green is slowly playing himself into the same territory. Dude NEEDS to be consistent.

This team isn't getting under the cap this off season there is absolutely no reason to trade Bass unless someone is trading for him and your are getting a young player or draft pick out of it.
Green may well be on his way out of town but my guess is that Ainge is going to want to see him with Rondo first and even then it is going to have to be a situation where someone is coming for him not one where Ainge is going to be looking to send him away.
