I really enjoyed Black Rabbit. Surprised to hear it's gotten mixed reviews.

I enjoyed the fast pace and appreciate that they wrapped the story up in 1 season. While it took him a while it was nice to see Vince finally put the needs of his family above his own needs. I like that the worst people in the show (Vince, Junior, Jules) eventually had to face the consequences of their behavior. Felt bad for Wes. He was a good dude who stood up for both Vince and Jake when others were speaking ill of them, or attempting a hostile take over, and in return Jake stole his girl and Vince shot him. He definitely got a raw deal.

I was also a big fan of the superman movie.

Love how much Superman struggled and how the movie didn't spend time trying to show you how great superman is but instead dove right into the struggle. I thought this was a movie more for adults where as most super hero movies (Marvel) are more geared to teenagers.

How does this movie compare in your eyes to other Superman movies like Man of Steel or the originals? Do you have a preference?

I haven't seen the others. Certainly I've seen bits and pieces here and there but I don't remember watching any of them all the way through. Have you seen the new one? How did you think it compared to the others?

It was fun. Refreshing new take on the Superhero and the universe he inhabits. Man of Steel is a far more grounded look at the mythos and Snyder's version is my favorite for a variety of reasons. However I do feel Gunn did Superman proud and earned his place in the lexicon. Nicholas Hoult gave a uniquely genius version of Lex Luthor who is equal parts, tormented and evil. There are some shades to the current [p;otoca; climate but that's always been Superman. In any case it worked. Where Man of Steel was intense and emotional, this was lighthearted and fun.

Getting into Slow Horses on Apple….seems like everything on Apple is solid!!!

Black Rabbit on Netflix seems to be getting mixed reviews but I found it quite gripping and pretty dang good. Jude Law and Jason Bateman. Bateman produces the show and also directs some of the episodes, and it def has an Ozark feel to it. Everything goes more and more wrong for the characters and the tension keeps ratcheting up. Kinda like Ozark meets The Bear. It's not as good as either of those but it's close imo.

I quite enjoyed the new Superman movie, which is on HBO Max now.

The Girlfriend on Prime. Olivia Cooke and Robin Wright go to war with each other after Wright's son brings Cooke home as his new love. Both of the gals go nuts on each other trying to "win" the son and ruin the other's life. Some solid twists and turns as far as you think one of them is the main nut, but then realize the other is even crazier. I spend an episode wondering if I really cared about it, but I ended up watching the whole thing in two nights. So I guess I liked it haha.

Black Rabbit was well done I thought. I found myself being pissed at the characters stupid mistakes lol. I guess that’s good acting.

I'm pretty easy to impress with popcorn movies. I'm not expecting anything more than a good time. I thought that whole Zach Snyder era of DC just took itself way too seriously. He makes Superman vs Batman or whatever it was called, everyone shrugs, it gets 50% Rotten Tomatoes... and then he comes out with a 4 hour long black-and-white director's cut like it's a work of art lol.

Now DC has James Gunn running things, who made the Guardians of the Galaxy films for Marvel and was a producer on the later Avengers movies. Based on the new Superman and the Peacemaker series on HBO MAX, I think DC is definitely on the rise.

I feel like I got superhero movie fatigue about 10 years ago, so I have watched very few in recent times other than the last infinity war Avenger movies and the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. I think I saw the first Henry Cavill superman movie which was OK, but I find the Zach Snyder movies unwatchable (and Rebel Moon on Netflix was one of the worst things I can remember watching in a very long time). I did watch the Robert Pattinson Batman movie actually, and that was quite good I thought, though it felt less like a superhero movie and more like a serial killer movie with Batman in it.

My wife and I watched all the Invasion episodes over the last couple of weeks, which after a very slow start in the first several episodes of Season One I am really quite enjoying.

Everything on Apple+ than I have been interested to watch has been straight fire. Point blank, period. Slow Horses is awesome. Invasion is good. Foundation is a little confusing at times but also good. The Morning Show, good. Some of their stuff that ended already like Ted Lasso and See are outstanding.

I do. Gunn who did the Guardians of the Galaxy I think does a good job of balancing drama and comedy and I'd say this Superman had more than its share of jokes what with the whole Justice Gang and their interactions and Krypto and Jimmy. It absolutely was lighter than Man of Steel which addressed the politics of xenophobia. It was also in many ways about a son's relationship with both of his fathers. Just a unique character study of Superman, the man as opposed to the hero. It was clever. And Hans Zimmer has never been more in his bag than he was with the score for this film.

The new one with Liam Neeson: the first 30 minutes I was thinking it wasn't funny at all and wished they never made it. But then I caught myself giggling in the middle 30 minutes, and laughing out loud during the final 30 minutes. So I guess it won me over. Pretty quick watch and a good time.

Remake or different story?

Neeson plays Leslie Nielsen's son, Frank Drebin Jr. (Kinda weird how Leslie Nielsen and Liam Neeson are such similar names but I imagine that was a coincidence haha.)

It's a new story but follows the original formula. Pamela Anderson plays a role similar to Priscilla Presley's role in the original. Then it's just a bunch of goofy Police Squad highjinks. The final part takes place at a UFC fight instead of a baseball game.

I believe it's now on both Paramount+ and MGM+ if you're interested.
