Then he will get criticized extensively. As for Jackson, i'm not trying to watch another guy hoist bricks hoping that someday he will develop a jumpshot.

If this is true than you pick him and never look back. I remain skeptical.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

The big thing to watch for Hayward is tomorrow. If he doesn't make an All-NBA team, the chances of him leaving as a FA are much higher. Much higher.

Is it basically a lock he stays if he does make it?

Not a lock, but the chances go way up. Utah is a pretty heavy favorite to retain him as it is already.

Did you check my math in the trade post mortem thread about sign and trades for both Hayward and Blake?

I didn't see it. Link?

They'd be able to pay him the super-max so we're talking about a major difference in $$... here are some details (written about Paul George) but the same info should apply to Hayward:

He would be in line for a Designated Player Extension, a new clause in the newly ratified Collective Bargaining Agreement. If he qualifies, the Pacers could offer him $75 million-plus more guaranteed than any other team, including an additional season. Only with the Pacers could he sign a five-year deal in the ballpark of $210 million.

If he does not qualify, the Pacers could extend his contract for another five years averaging around $35 million per year. If he decides to play the year out and then go elsewhere, he would leave $45 million on the table if he signs elsewhere for more than $130 million over four years.

I just want to emphasize how incredibly stupid and arbitrary it is to grant players access to tens of millions of dollars difference based on some awards given out based on evaluations by sports media personalities rather than GM's, and especially by additionally tying that added compensation to decisions that employers make for them such as getting traded that are entirely outside their control. If the NBA wanted to create an incentive for players to stay on the teams that drafted them -- a goal I don't even support, but at least understand -- they should have just increased the max contract for players re-signing with their own teams and added a disincentive for teams to trade players. It's completely bizarre to think that one of the top 20 players in the NBA might decide where to spend the rest of his career in part based on whether some sportswriter in New York thinks he's a marginally better player than Jimmy Butler or Paul George.

Pretty wild that we have a game in the Eastern Conference Finals at home tonight and my Celtics thoughts have been 98% dedicated to the draft/trades instead of the game.

He shot 64.9% from the free throw line in his one season at Washington. That's bad.

Yeah, he shot 41% from 3. He also took a ton of pull-up 3s. In the NBA he's going to have to shoot off the catch. His form doesn't look great. How do we know he isn't a 33-35% shooter from deep in the NBA? What did he shoot in HS?

People keep talking about how Ball and Fultz are these incredible prospects and I just can't see it. Anthony Davis was an incredible
prospect. Joel Embiid was an incredible prospect. Can someone talk me into this kid?

Didn't get to see him much but numbers-wise he checks out. He put up Dwyane Wade numbers in college at a significantly younger age and has a similar set of dimensions.

Wade was more of a physical beast - his steal and rebounding numbers were otherworldly as a frosh. I think Fultz matches or exceeds a young D-Wade offensively with his offensive range and his passing ability, but not quite the 2-way stud a young D-Wade was.

Fultz is absolutely a great prospect, but he's not in the class of Davis. At the same time his length and size give him a slight edge over other #1 pick PGs like Irving and Rose, while his shooting and scoring ability gives him a slight edge over Wall.

He does have top 10 player upside - the defensive tools of a Danny Green with the scoring ability of a James Harden or IT. The key is his defensive development.

Wade was actually a 20-year old sophomore during his first basketball season at Marquette, he had to sit out his freshman season due to academics. Fultz was an 18-year old true freshman this past season, he doesn't even turn 19 for another two weeks.

Fultz actually reminds me of a mix between Dwyane Wade and Russell Westbrook. Right in the middle of those two players in terms of skills, size, and athleticism.

Check out Pagliuca's reaction to winning the 1st pick at 7:48

And then when we get drawn a third time at 11:08.

I think that's enough to tell you just how much is at stake this year.

LaVar Bell is at it again. Seems to be a little worried the celtics may take Lonzo. I mean I know what he is doing but this is also the same guy that said his son better than Steph Curry.

The outspoken Ball father even encouraged the Boston Celtics, who won the draft lottery held Tuesday night, to use the No. 1 pick on Markelle Fultz, who he the dubbed, "the best player."

"Discourage them? Yes. I hope the Celtics don't take Lonzo. Markelle Fultz is the perfect pick for them. He's the best player. Take him," LaVar said Wednesday morning on "Undisputed.""I hope the Celtics don't take Lonzo. Markelle Fultz is the perfect pick for them. He's the best player. Take him." — @Lavarbigballer pic.twitter.com/KHCspnD6wq

Now just imagine if Ainge does not pick Fultz or Ball and takes somebody everybody never heard about (on talks as 1st overrall and even top 3), like the Cavs did with Anthony Bennett.

Can I just say your org is **** crazy? You pulled off an even better Process than the Sixers, and got into the ECF AT THE SAME TIME.

You even somehow own 2 future #1 picks from Jeff Green trades (albeit one came indirectly through the Clippers.)

He's a better outside shooter than Wade, and also can be playmaker/scorer as a PG instead of strictly wing player. Not saying Fultz is better or will be as good, but along with the defensive development he can also hopefully become a player with true #1 skill set (that does #1 and #2 things on the court as needed.) He seems like a genuinely good kid, so I think the dedication and desire to work on all these things will be there. He will also be coming up in a great environment to foster that development (as opposed to say a 10 win team in which everyone will want him to carry the team's scoring load, possibly at the expense of other skills.)

I can't be the only one who's been completely unproductive these last few days, right?

I'm just saying... if I fail my exams, it's Danny's fault.

Lavar Ball just disrespected Kristine Leahy on the Herd. What an ****. I'm so relieved we dont have to deal with him.
