The trick now will be to ramp up his mins while maintaining productivity and carving out a larger offensive role. He does well already in setting screens and even passing. He just needs to figure out ways to get his own offense going..

These high-block, rim-runner types that only play 8 MPG and only get dunks are always the leaders in WS-rate. The blocks he get are really insane, especially the ones on jumpers where he has his hand well above the square. There is no reason he shouldn't be a Capela/Gobert/DeAndre Jordan type in very short order, once he figures out PnR defense and general team defensive positioning.

With how washed Horford looks on the second night of back to backs, I'd like to see the team just schedule those as full rest days for Horford and get Williams 25 minutes. Jan 19 against ATL (cake), Feb 13 against Detroit (cake), Feb 27 against Portland (tough), Mar 6 against Sac (cake), Mar 24 against San Antonio (tough), Mar 30 against Brooklyn (cake). Just put those on the calendar and don't play Horford in those games.

My only concern about Williams is his lack of shooting. I wish he would occasionally take a jump shot from more than 5 feet from the rim. I remember watching a pre-draft video on him in college, and he actually looked like he knew how to shoot well. A half-decent jump shot will open up more opportunities for him, and increased play time.
Besides that, no real complaints about him. Kid's got an amazing engine, a good nose for the ball, and a reach that would make a giraffe jealous.

Time Lord feels like the Rajon Rondo of our future AD deal— I can imagine Danny drawing a line in the sand after offering Tatum+Brown and saying no on including him in the deal.

I am usually critical of rookies who don't produce and I have long been against just giving a rookie and young guys minutes just to give them minutes. That's why people get mad at me when Jordan Mickey, Rozier and even Jaylen Brown didn't play early on. Same thing with Williams. He has to earn it.

What we have seen is a player with a really high ceiling and who can be a factor as a defensive center, rebounder, and athletic screen setter and rim runner. Love his passing too. I don't care if heever takes a shot outside the paint. I love players who can impact the game without the ball in their hands.

This guy is a long threat we really don't have. Horford gets lob dunks, but this is Capela, Jordan, Drummond level of rim running and dunking. And he seems perfectly happy playing that way. He doesn't want to be some 3-point star or some 20 PPG scorer. He knows who he is.

This Kid is a real-deal-steal. = We got him at pick 27. Wow.
I want to see him Dunk over the Entire Backboard, in like the All-Star Dunk competition.

I think it’s time he leap frogs Theis in the rotation. There will be rocky times because he’s a rookie but there’s just too much talent not to play him.

Yeah. Theis is good at Offensive Rebounds, and keeping the ball in-play, and in-possession.
But, the Williams Kid is actually better. And definitely on a much faster learning track, and higher upside.

It happens by next year almost by default, if nothing else. Theis is playing himself into a decent contract, and I think the most we can go is taxpayer MLE. And we may not want to do that if we can avoid it due to the tax burden. Depending on how the rest of the roster shakes out.

I'm not sure I'd make that much fuss about making the correct pass in a 3-on-1 fast break -- but yeah, he did the right thing and did it well.

Better than most articles of its kind: The bits about Irving, Rozier and Williams are each interesting in their own way.

I liked seeing Williams in there with the Starters. The Kid helped to bring the game back.
Though, he can be more active during possessions. Especially, not giving up too early on plays.

Williams can definitely slide in for more rebounds, à la Baynes & Theis.
Wait until he really learns more about this NBA-level game, and what he can do out there.

I do see Williams (aka TimeLord) being our Starting Center at some point.
In any event, he filled in well for awhile there.

Even though Danny was trading for a great defensive player in KG, he still kept his two great defensive young guys in Perk and Rondo, while shipping off the young offensive talent.

In regards to Theis, through no real fault of his he's just overmatched as the lone big on defense. That's not who he is. It never was. Not that we use number positions here anymore but he's a TRUE 4. He needs to play next to another big like Baynes or Al to get the best out of him. It just doesn't work next to anyone else. Having said that, Williams has that potential to be THAT guy down low where Theis isn't. I said earlier though, if we're depending on Williams to get any real minutes to help this team year, then we have bigger problems. Well...currently, we do.

He can play some small-ball center, but he just can't match up against the bigger centers in the league. And the pendulum is swinging back toward bigger centers, because we've got a new bunch of talented ones. Al is about to have to sit out some games for his knee, so IMO what Stevens needs to do is give Baynes more minutes, while starting him, and a steady diet of minutes to Williams. I guess Rob got two fouls in two minutes last night, after which he was mostly yanked. But I'm not sure I see that he deserved that. Maybe Stevens thinks he has to yank Rob's chain particularly hard, because he's afraid to call out the vets and non-rookie rising talent.

This I think is really where he belongs for most of the rest of the year. I want to see more Baynes and Horford on the floor together.

He is so raw. Just a shotblocker and nothing more at the moment.

Would love to see him develop some post moves. If he can get you 8-12 off the bench consistently, man, he'd be a huge piece

Dude, 12 pts off the bench would make him basically Gobert. And Gobert has no post moves and no jumper and he's probably one of the 10 most valuable players in the league. Once he figures out how to defend the PnR it's game over.
