No reason for them to buy him out if theyre being prudent. Could either just keep him on the roster or attach an asset to move him. He can be traded right away though.

Called it. Now let's see if the Thunder can sell Miami on overpaying for a declining Chris Paul to get a second all-star next to Butler.

CP3 to the Knicks has to be the next move. Send 3 overpaid mediocre power forwards and call it a day. Somehow the Knicks will send a pick as well. Cuz Knicks.

Honestly, Adams/Roberson/Gallo/SGA/CP3 is a pretty nice lineup if everyone stays healthy. This might be the best OKC team in years.

Since Westbrook was drafted by OKC, only the Spurs (613) and Rockets (541) have more wins than the Thunder (538). Westbrook was part of a historic run of picks by the Thunder, as the only team in NBA history to select three consecutive future MVPs (Kevin Durant, Westbrook and Harden). Since Westbrook's debut, the Thunder are the only team to have three different players finish in the top three of MVP voting (Durant, Westbrook and George). OKC has had 16 All-NBA selections since 2009, the most in the NBA in that span.

... and 0 championships.

things that make you go hmmmm.

Isn't OKC holding Miami future picks a disincentive to trading Chris Paul to the Heat? They don't want to diminish the value of those picks.

I'm not saying it won't be done, just that it's a factor.

I'm shocked that OKC got not one, but two legit assets for Westbrook in those unprotected first rounders years from now.

Both of those are as good as our current MEM pick. I love Westbrook but never saw people paying near MVP level prices for him.

Houston also got to dump a very difficult contract in Paul. It will be interesting to see what Memphis turns that into.

Those 1st rounders aren’t going to amount to anything if we’re being real. Houston will be good for a while and so will Clippers. I think OKC got fleeced tbh

Bird would have won 4 rings with that team, in this weak ass era of basketball.

They got top 5 protected picks in years Harden will be 34 and 36, and Westbrook will be 35 and 37. Hard to image those not being good picks. It's a long way off so a lot could change, but they look good. Seems like Houston's only hope to avoid being awful for those years is free agency in either 2022 or 2023 depending on if Harden and Westbrook opt in or not.
