Re: Celtics 2025, Off-Season Thread
Pritchard won't go for Simons starting over him. With Jrue and White he knew his spot on the totem pole.
Simons has started over 200 games and I'm sure he'll do whatever he can to prove he should start. Gonna be a battle everyday in practice for sure.
Pritchard may see this season as a chance to prove his worth as a starter which will help when his next contract is up. It's still a business at the end of the day and he probably has one more big contract left.

Re: Celtics 2025, Off-Season Thread
Technically LAC could move Jones Jr., Eubanks, Cam Christie and Nic Batum for Simons. Boston could keep one or two non-Jones guys and the rest could go elsewhere. That actually looks feasible if moving Simons is the direction they go.
Actually I forgot they have the same guy in Norm Powell so that probably wouldn't have any point for them. Oh and Bogdan Bogdanovic.

I think something based around Bogi could be interesting, though. Simons would be an upgrade there, imo.
Eubanks got declined and signed with SAC. So, it would basically be DJJ and Bogi. I think you could re-home both of those guys. But including Jones probably means it's not an upgrade for LAC anymore. But get a 2nd or 2 back from a TPE team that goes to LAC.

I don't even want Simons at training camp.

With Tatum injured, Jrue gone and JB/White both load managing all season, there's plenty of mins for both of them.

No "Welcome to the Celtics" thread on Kenneth Lofton, Jr.? He was the MVP of the Chinese league last year with the Shanghai Sharks. He's a legitimate talented widebody. Yabu, who is roughly the same size, didn't do that in China.

He's summer league-only at this point, right? So may be premature for a full Welcome thread.
That said, he's got more skill in one belly roll than some of the other signings in their entire body.
I hope it turns into more than just a summer session lager for Lofton. It's up to him to get his body in semi-NBA shape by October.

Yeah he's got talent for sure. But I feel like he's gotta drop at least 20-30 lbs to have a real shot at sticking in the league.
Worth a summer league flier though. I'm really intrigued by our SL team. PG we are weak there. But wings and bigs we have some solid depth/talent. I like the big rotation of amari/loften/ben gregg. All 3 are pretty high feel, high IQ guys with some skill. Rotate them in and out..we might go some double big..and Walsh can play some at the 4 (as well as the 3)..

I don't know anything about Gregg, but yeah, Amari at the top of the key feeding wing cutters or double big with Lofton pinning defenders under the basket with those sweet Amari passes could be a new look for Celtic summer league.

Summer league success usually depends on guard play and I don't see anyone on the roster who vaguely resembles a point guard.

Hugo has PG skills too. Plus, I really want to see his ball handling skills, so I hope he has the ball a lot in SL.

Re: Celtics 2025, Off-Season Thread
The PG position has evolved because the talent level has gotten better the last 15 years. So many more guys with different position labels can initiate an offense.
CP3 IMO is the last prototypical PG.

Rico's definitely highly skilled. Needs minutes this season for sure.

Re: Celtics 2025, Off-Season Thread
Same. I remember when he beat Kobe in the finals he said he was the best player in the world. That's how he should think. And I would say Jaylen Brown is cut from the Pierce mold. Everyone remember how Pierce wanted to always guard Lebron, just like Brown guarded Luka. And here's more about the Truth below.
“I remember in the Finals, Paul was picking up Kobe damn near full court. Full court! We got in a timeout, and we said, ‘You don’t have to pick up Kobe full court.’ He looked at us and said, ‘Nah! Nah! I got him! I got him! I don’t need no help!’ That’s all he kept saying. He kept repeating, ‘Don’t help me!’” Powe said, per The Athletic.
“This was the thing, Kobe was great in the mid-post area and getting position,” says Pierce. “When we had Ray guarding him, it was easier for him to get that position. But me being a little bit bigger, I can move him off his spots, and it required less help.”
I just don't understand for the life of me why he said Tatum was going to be better than him.

When I was in 4th grade, my entire class took a field trip to Canobie Lake Park for the day
the teachers sent a permission slip home to the parents saying each student could bring up to $5 in cash for snacks but not to bring more than $5 bucks
1987 ... lol
